Don't over think it, it's just paint! But for real man, that sucks. I feel for you. On the bright side, you can turn fixing it into another video, so there's that I guess. I appreciate that you don't hide mistakes or oopsies, and give your audience a genuine DIY experience. Every project I have done has had one thing or another go wrong on it. Thank you Brian, and keep up the hussle!

For the at-home DIY'er (not professional auto paint shop), this seems like the most efficient way to go, especially if you have a home project car or have other small painting projects. Once again, Brian great video. The system I bought over 30 years ago was Accuspray. The system I needed needed to be portable. And I fell in love with the unit they had. I've also have the Apollo 5 stage system and both work very, very well. The thing that I like about HVLP is that you can put down a near glass finish and have very little orange peel to sand out. Apollo is number one in the industry on HVLP right now. And I'm glad to hear they came out with a sixth stage turbine. Brian, sorry to see your power went out and screwed up your paint booth, but at least you're able to catch it on camera. HAHA.

I have a Fuji 5 stage and I love it. I live in Northern Indiana and getting clean dry air is expensive. I have a restomod shop and don't do a lot of painting but use a lot of of air tools.. I love the fact that Shawn was honest, and said that you would probably need a bigger system for complete paint jobs. I think I would go nuts, spraying that slow. I would be surprised if the clear at the beginning of the panel wasn’t dry by the time you get to the other end. Just my thinking. However, it looked gorgeous. Definitely takes patience. Brian, thanks for keeping it honest! I love your channel! Keep up the great work.

@BearBudgetTurbine

Spraying slower is a fair trade-off if you are in a garage environment. Think of all the time and hours blocking a project car. What's a little more time when you are spraying to minimize fog in the air? I have also noticed Significant savings in material. 2 quarts of base to paint a smaller vehicle. Another huge plus if you are not a big shop. Lastly, I do completes with the turbines now. 4 stage Apollo for base works just fine. Then I switch to my 5 stage for heavier materials. I originally bought the 4 stage used(to test out system) then purchased a new 5 stage. I don't spray daily, so it works fine.

Brian, this probably won't be a popular comment. But, 2,699 to 2,999 is NOT DIY friendly for most people. For for those living on a fixed or low income, and most regular people who are working to keep an older vehicle running decent, and not looking like it should be in a wrecking yard...that kind of funding is way outside the realm of possibility. And these companies don't send freebies like that to people who are unknown and that don't have KZfaq channels, on a phone call.

I was giddy and excited until i looked up the cost. Not in the cards yet. But look at it like this: Setting up a regular garage for compressor duties, you can go pretty modest, so theres money saved there. By the time you add desiccant dryers, refrigerator setup and maintenance cost, and that in my opinion, without the worry about oil and condensation in the air lines-this product offers alot of predictability in the outcome of the paintjob, even in the short term one will come out ahead financially and job result with this machine. Narrowly. Just my opinion.

I’m a retired painting contractor. HVlP has been around for a long time. We used it exclusively to spray oiled based wood stain and fast dry clear urethane’s on handrails and stair treads. Other than that it was too slow. We would use airless pumps to spray primer and finish on drywall backrolled, and primer and gloss finish on trim and doors. HVlP was great because a quart of stain and a quart of urethane could do three homes. It is much slower than airless.

As a turbine user since the late 90s, they are great for motorcycle work, as you don’t need to run a big compressor for a smaller job, also they work great for a hotrod flat black, as the heated air doesn’t blush, if you look at a flat black from a compressor it looks blushed

He tells me they have a new turbine system prototype and that he would like me to try it on a repairable Jeep Wrangler that I had ready for paint. I reluctantly agreed. I don't recall any of the specifications on the unit or gun but I think it was intended for painting bridges cause the pattern was so wide I had to spray from about 30" 😵‍💫 Surprisingly, it turned out OK but it was not intended for automotive. The Apollo looks great but the price is a bit high for me.

Brian, great video! Im a mobile tech for over 25yrs and have been using the Apollo Precision 5 for the last year or so. Ive been using compressed air the whole time and i do love the Apollo system. Less material and overspray. That being said there is a Huge learning curve going to turbine! You have to trust the flow out ability of the material you’re spraying and put on way less material 😂 or you will get runs like you’ve never experienced. Couple questions about the Precision 6 if you don’t mind?- 1) Does it have the auto Pause? (Hate that feature!) 2) What’s the highest psi the 6 goes up to? (John said 11.5 but i doubt that. I can’t get mine past 6.2. Supposedly the 5 can go to 10psi-NOPE!) All the best!
@ApolloSprayersHVLP
@ApolloSprayersHVLP 3 ай бұрын
@paulhaeggquist4266 Yes, the PRECISION-6 has the same POWER-PAUSE feature that your PRECISION-5 has. The reason this is important is that it keeps your motor turbine much cooler, adds life expectancy to the motor and gives you overall higher spraying pressures as a result. The actual flow pressure on the PRECISION-6 is about 7.2 - 7.4PSI, or about 1PSI more pressure than your PRECISION-6, which equates to 12% more power. There is a difference between sealed pressure and flow pressure. Your PRECISION-5 will give you 10 PSI sealed pressure if you turn it all the way up and block off the bleed port. Doing this will also cause damage to your motor if you do it for too long.

😮😢, those pieces looked so nice too! The system is really interesting, the reduced overspray, better transfer , and either Emilio is an amazing painter or the way the turbine delivered the flow-it really seemed to lay down cleaner than what we’re used to! It would definitely require a larger version of the machine …and would it hold up to painting an entire car at least once a week if you needed it to?? Once the systems become more common I’m sure the capability will improve, I like where it’s headed! You know Brian… k don’t think you have the best luck with the temporary spray booths😂! Once outside with the rain, and now this.. @ApolloSprayersHVLP
@ApolloSprayersHVLP 3 ай бұрын
@BoostedGeeks you will get about 15% more pressure out of the 6-stage than you are out of your Fuji. Also Fuji systems run extremely hot, so after about 15 minutes of spraying your air pressure continues to go down as the motor temperature keeps rising. The Apollo systems are designed to give you a more stable spraying temperature, which ultimately result in better performance. When coupled with our digital pressure control and the POWER Pause feature you can't beat it. The filtration is better, so you don't get paint sucked into your motor. All guaranteed for 5-years! It will be night and day difference in the performance of the PRECISION-6.

I can't emphasize enough as to the importance of keeping child car seats clean. When my son's were barely a year old their mom brought them to my dad's to hang out. We started playing cards and as a babysitter we put the boys on front of the TV buckled on their car seats with a basketball game on. They really liked watching sports as early as 6 months till present day. Their mom was not the tidiest of people. But never gave much thought about car seats. After a while I noticed they weren't "playing basketball“ like normal by kicking their legs and swinging their arms. In fact one was actually staring at the other and trying to reach for him. I spoke up and we all sprung to our feet to notice the one was actually starting to turn color. Being a new dad I kinda froze when I seen that and trying to think what to do. Luckily my dad pulled him out of his car seat and started CPR procedures and when he swept his mouth he pulled out a nickel that was blocking the airway. Upon further inspection of both car seats I gathered 3.5 animal cookies, 7 French fries and $0.47 in change. That was all under the liners but accessable by small hands. Every time she brought the kids to visit I thoroughly inspected her car and car seats. So yes, for kids sake if anything, keep it clean!

Next time !! For those that can't tie up, maybe use some pvc pipes as an external frame. It was still a great video !!

@ApolloSprayersHVLP

@@VA-gu1jq you will not stress the system out as it is designed to spray all day long if you want to. The problem is moving the spray gun fast enough to keep the wet edge with your clear all the way around the car. If you are spraying a small car it won't be a problem, but you probably won't get around an old Cadillac or something like that. That's why we have our 3000 PRO system, which is designed for spraying completes all at once.

@@ApolloSprayersHVLPinstead of running lower PSI with the .8 tip, can’t it be stepped up to a 1.3 and ran with more PSI, closer to the 11 PSI that it’s capable of? I know the overspray will be greater, but wouldn’t that allow painting a whole car or larger surfaces?
@ApolloSprayersHVLP
@ApolloSprayersHVLP 3 ай бұрын
@@jerryhovet2991 You could do this if you are spraying a low solids clear, but if you are spraying high solids clear you will end up pushing too much paint through the nozzle too fast and won't have enough atomizing pressure to break it down fast enough to give you a smooth finish. With these systems its more about balancing the air pressure to the solids content of the clear. The higher the solids the more pressure you need to get a smooth finish. That's why we use the 0.8mm so we don't feed too much finish into the air stream too quickly.
@LTVoyager
@LTVoyager 3 ай бұрын
Well, that stinks. It looked like the finish quality wasn’t up to conventional gun levels, but not bad for an amateur painter. However, it would be fun to see Brian use that system and see how it works for him the first time using it. I am curious as to the learning curve coming from conventional compressed air spray guns.

Man...i really didn't like mine from the 90's. It was EXPENSIVE for its time, and the air was significantly hotter than my standard. Does it work? Yes. But I'd rather put my $ in a GOOD compressor That will do so many more jobs Than this one show pony. Mine sat in the cabinet hogging space untill i gave it to a cabinet guy after hauling it around and being disappointed every time I DID use it. Now they may be improved, but the truth is, I bet you Won't see many pros pick it up.

Why can't you paint a whole car?? A regular compressor may not be able to keep the pressure high enough to continually spray. The turbine doesn't store up pressure so you shouldn't run low on pressure. I don't get it.
