I sympathize with the feeling--although I don't think I even want to be that good beause I don't want to put in that many hours to get that good. However, I sure and inspired to put at least some color on my own miniatures. Great video, Miniac.

Wow, Jaime's style is crazy. Taking techniques used to make a 2d objects (comics) appear 3d and then applying that to an actual 3d model is just fantastic and refreshing.

Gotta look at Alfonso "Banshee" Giraldes. He also did some of the Marvel United miniatures, and the speed that he works at is incredible. Look at any of his 30 minute sketch pieces. They blow my best effort out of the water. He also mentored Erik Swinson and Masclans. His finished work is also unreal. Absolute unit of a painter.

I started painting miniatured with a 'comic' book look, and absolutely love not only the look of them, but the process of it. As someone who draws in a similar way, really defined black outlines, and not going for full realism, that style of painting just really resonated with me. But Wow! That 5th painter is *good.* The look of those is stunning.

I went to Nova 2022 and saw a lot of Will's models in person. The Dreamer was incredible and every time I was anywhere near Capital Palette I would just stare at it mesmerized by how incredible it was, it ended up what I cast my ballot to win. Witchhorn was also there, you mention that it looks 'as good' in person? The images barely do it justice, it's incredible in person.

I love watching someone who knows their shit wax poetic about how great something is, especially mini painting and art. I think it's also interesting to think about how we can apply some of these topics to everyday hobbying to level up our own paint jobs on things like DnD or wargaming minis

I swear, on every one of these, for the first couple seconds I'm thinking "Why is he showing us a 3D render instead of the actual mini?" Followed by, "Holy sh*t, that IS the mini!" I'm in awe. Also, you're very on point with your observations about America's effed up priorities when it comes to art education and the general well-being of its citizens.

That is some incredible talent, it's disheartening (a bit) but inspiring nonetheless because a lot of us would like to paint to these levels but can't really get there. I really love Dave Soper's amazing work as well as Jen Haley's, I really need to up my level of painting and finding that technique to make my figures look better than just beginner level is a constant quest for me. I need to find a masterclass painting tutorial not just "how-to-paint-a-space marine" vid.
