there are a lot of beautiful blue pearls now. But one of the first was a Toyota color and when I saw that lid, I thought that was it for sure.

Lol I totally get where you guys are coming from! About three years ago I bought a 83 Chevy dually twin cab with a extended bed. The paint was old and crappy so I sanded the entire vehicle down to the metal. Big mistake! As I was sanding it down I couldn’t figure out what all this filler was I was sanding out. Well once I got the whole vehicle sanded down I finally realized I created a monster! The truck had metal warpage all over the place on every door every Panel, hood, tail gate, everything! Well here I am three years later STILL working on the body! Almost there! I might make a vid of me spraying it down with prime sealer then the base. Then has probably been the hardest thing I have ever undertaken in my life, but yeah I too try to use the lighting as a guide to show me of any imperfections still standing out. The hood is a little tricky since it lays flat and not side ways so I’m trying different lighting positions with different kinds of lights to try and find that reflection I’m looking for. Great work, truck looks great! I know what you went through to get it where it was 👍

Keep at it and don't be in a rush. It'll be well worth it making it absolutely perfect when its finished!

@@HeiseyMotors Thanks.. I’m trying lol.. I see you focused and sprayed different parts of the truck on separate days. I’m thinking about doing this myself so I can focus on and spray the rear one day like you did in this video. Then the cab roof and doors another day. Then finally the front and hood. Is this alright to do or will the paint colors not match if the temp outside is different from the last day you sprayed? I have to use fast drying with my base since it’s not going to be over 70 degrees for a while where I live.

I wanted to give you an update on the progress of the restoration of my '81 Silverado long bed. I've decided to change the color of my truck completely from the Chestnut Brown it was to a Metallic Midnight Blue. I also updated the interior by changing it from that ugly dark brown to a modern medium Nuetral Tan including swapping out the worn-out vinal bench seat with a 60/40 split bench seat out of a '96 Silverado.

I bought a 1981 Silverado long bed in January 2017. I am doing a frame off restoration. I've been working on it for nearly 3 and a half years and almost ready for paint. This is my first time restoring a vehicle and I agree it takes a lot of time, dedication and money to do it right .

I always end up putting more money in than I'll ever get out, no matter if it's a car, truck, boat, motorcycle... Whatever, it's only money, right?

@@JustMike2791 To me all the time, labor and money I've got invested in my truck is worth it. I also bought a 2003 Impala in December 2018 that I had to go through and basically replace everything mechanical because the elderly lady who owned it neglected it. It still had parts from 2003 on it. Lol

4 to 5 coats bro that’s a little too many I think 3 coats is plenty even if you cut a buff after words get too many coats you can get solvent pops then you have big problems looks good man
@HeiseyMotors3 жыл бұрын
On a restoration you always do more than 3 coats. Unless you spray your coats perfectly, you're going to have to wet sand. Wet sanding ALL the orange peel out will rip off at least 2 coats of clear minimum. Spraying 3 coats would only give you one final layer of protection from chips, we don't do that. We like to have more protection so the paint holds up far longer and won't chip or fade
@ryanheisey77193 жыл бұрын
On restorations I've always done 4-5 coats of clear you just have to follow your flash times on your first 2 coats then extend them by 5 mins on the third coat then on the 4th coat and 5th coat I leave it sit 20-25 mins for flash time on this one and never got solvent pop havent in the past either only time you'll get solvent pop is if you dont follow flash time and bake it which i dont bake my paint

What clear did you use over that Deltron? Very good work by the way-made that plus gun sing. Ever tried a Sagola 4600? If you can lay it down that nice with a plus you would love the 4600. Look forward to seeing more.

I've used my plus since I was in high school idk I have used an iwata w400 I think it was for clear and it had awesome atomization. This plus gun I used in the video was literally bought least 13 years ago I was still in auto collision in votech and shes been my primer sealer and clearcoat gun ever since.

man i understand!!! bin prepping a dodge w200 for months now. its so hard to get the bed 100% tight. i made 3 meter long sanding blocks to cover almost the whole panels. alot of filler, then spray filler, blokking again for days and weeks, again spray filler. again blokking. then primer. still blocking alot. another coat of primer to get wrid of the burned threu places. now after 2000 euros of materials and months just sanding its ready for paint. i checked it so many times with water or cleaner to see there are no marks left. but its tight as fuck. i also wetsand the clear and polisch it till high definetion. people really do not understand that you have to be a little fucked in the head to go the distance. but there is no other way!!!!!

Love the color on this. Im in the middle of having my 1977 gmc k10 restored. Im kinda curious of how long a good paint job should take hours wise? Including all the wet sanding etc. I am 13k over budget and they still haven't painted. All the body work is done all supplies paid for and when i asked how much it was the wrap this restoration up he wouldn't tell me a price when im literally 33k into this project. I reused all my old parts only new stuff i got was interior. Im feeling like im being taking advantage of. Any insight would be super appreciated. Look forward to more video's

Hello what would be a starting price to do paint and body on my 81 c10?
@HeiseyMotors Жыл бұрын
That's a loaded question. If by some miracle it doesn't have any wrecks on it and all body panels are straight, to do a top shelf paint job on that would probably be something like 4k I'm sure. Diving into it if anything is out of whack or needs body worked (which it likely will need, they all do) it's a metric ton of hours and could be closer to a 15k paint job depending on how crazy we're getting into it. Price quoting is a dicey game because you never know how those panels look underneath unless the customer has it already sandblasted at the start and we can see all the panels clearly.
@deegan7273 жыл бұрын
For people that think paint/body work prices are too high, do it yourself cheaper and see why professionals charge so much. I do my own and understand why it costs so much at a good shop.

Weird question. Picked up a 84 sierra really cheap….was hit on the driver side and looks it had a little frame damage. Is that easy to fix so I can do the body work to paint it?
@HeiseyMotors2 жыл бұрын
If you know a decent frame puller around you, then its not too bad. You want to make sure these frames square up on a jig after a hard impact or else your body lines will be all over the place and your axles will sit crooked.
