Samuel!

Hey Hey I'm new and I just wanna say thank you watching your vids has rly helped me even when I do don't watch them but listen listen while I draw the sound of your voice telling telling me it's OK to make. Mistakes is always amazing i have anxiety and it rly makes me struggle with. You art sometimes even tho my art is what I do do to release all that negative emotions and stress because I just keep rubbing out and saying it's not perfect it needs to be perfect you just bring me back back to the reality where there is no such thing

Hi Sam, I was looking for a South Island landscape artist and found you on youtube. What awesome paintings you are creating! I immediately started walking with my eyes along the river. I love how you captured the colour of the tussocks. The different values in the fore/ middle and background work so well and give your painting such a great perspective. I am not so sure about the form of the Matagouri bushes. I thought they were cattle at first, which would be too many. I think I would prefer a little animal track instead of the gravel road, but it balances the composition. And of course, yes, please, do a big one :)

Sam would you ever consider maybe changing the colour from what was actually there ... like maybe making the mist of the far mountains more of a lilac and the warmth in the foreground maybe more apricot ... : )
@SamuelEarpArtist
@SamuelEarpArtist 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Terry, personally I won't change the colours because I am trying to recreate natural but vibrant colours that is found in nature, but that is my painting style. However there is no reason why you couldn't do this and there are many landscape artists that paint in a stylised, surreal or abstract way. When it comes to making art, paint what speaks to your soul. The aim of my videos is to show you what I am painting and hopefully to impart my knowledge and inspire you at the same time so you have a solid foundation and so you can develop your own painting style...if that makes sense 😊

Hello Samuel. I am following your videos and I really like them. I have a question, perhaps a trivial one, but I'm a beginner, have patience. How do you manage if you paint with artificial light?
@SamuelEarpArtist
@SamuelEarpArtist 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Paolo, no worries, ask me any question. I try to aim my videos for beginners as well. When you say artificial light, do you mean studio lighting....as opposed to painting outdoors?
@paoloderegibus1970
@paoloderegibus1970 2 жыл бұрын
@@SamuelEarpArtist I am experimenting with acrylic painting and I usually paint at home when there is natural light. My subjects are mainly mountain landscapes and I take inspiration from the photographs I take during my excursions in the Alps near home. When evening comes, however, with normal artificial light I find it difficult to paint because it seems to me that the colors have a different tone. Do you have any suggestions about it?
@tba1879
@tba1879 2 жыл бұрын
@@paoloderegibus1970The lights you are using are probably too warm (yellow cast) which will alter the colors of your photos. I use full spectrum fluorescent lights (mine are Verilux but I'm not sure they make these 48" bulbs anymore--I think Phillips does). Do dome research on the Kelvin rating of daylight (4600-550 K--this is cool light, like around noon). CRI (color rendering index) is very important--you need a rating of at least 80, but the 90's are much better for truer color. Cree and Northlux, etc. make LED bulbs with a 95+ rating.
