Painting a V-Max Engine! Yamaha V-Max 1200 Shoogly Shed Motors Episode 87
The first major job to tick off after the strip-down is a refresh of the engine! A fresh coat of paint today... but more bling to follow!

Ever since I had seen the Shibuya Garage vmax I knew I wanted a stealth black look to the mill and knowing what we have planned for Project Musashi in terms of paint and coatings it is going to look awesome 😎

@@ShooglyShedMotors Yeah shure, but it looks like you couldnt be bothered to mask up the shiny bits and threw som rattle can paint on it just to be done with it. Many people do that, but from what I`ve seen so far you DONT 😉 With all that being said, I LOVE the Vmax just the way it was from the factory

@@Ketta3Sportback it was a style choice by the person I'm building the bike for. And hopefully it'll all make sense once the bike comes together 👍🏻 I'm trying really hard not to take your comment as an insult 🤔

Another great video and enjoyable to watch. I’m not far from you and have noticed the change in temperature over this last week. I use a Clarke quartz heater on a stand which heats both yourself and the object you’re working on. £80 well spent and allows you to continue through the Scottish winter. Best regards from sunny Dunfermline

I love watching your videos especially when I own a 1990 gen1 vmax,the v boost kicks in at 6000 revs then bloody hold on lol 😂
@norwichscott
@norwichscott Жыл бұрын
The vboost opens up cylinder 1 & 2 and 3 & 4 carbs, so every time a cylinder fires, it feeds of 2 carbs instead of 1 👍

The downside of painting the engine like this is when you try and undo screws and split cases. Like you said the best way is to dismantle the engine. Ask me how i know.

Having done both in the past, if you're careful about it, it's not that big an issue 👍🏻

If taking the bike to meets and shows, the comments you get will be that the engine was painted as a unit. The first time you need to remove nuts and bolts (painted) the finish is going to suffer. Unfortunately the only real way of having a good paint job is a complete strip whether or not the engine requires it.

Having done both in the past, if you're careful, you can do it. Trust me, this ain't my first rodeo.

ekspatriat, you are right, you need to remove the outer cases and paint them separately otherwise it just looks like a rush job. The all over paint job done here is fine for the rat bike look but I would of thought a bit more time would have been put in to this.

How many NEW books and crannies did you find each time you went round coating that engine with paint 😳. You really need patience when doing these jobs.

what kind of endurance can you expect with a rattlecan spray job? my experience with spray cans is decades old. when I used them they were slightly better than a waste of time but not much. I assume they are more durable now?

How long would you expect a paint job on an engine to last before it starts coming off?
@ShooglyShedMotors
@ShooglyShedMotors Жыл бұрын
If you prep it properly and degrease it well, and use the right paint, it should last just as long as any other paint.
