Best video on this I've found so far

Duplicolor doesn’t fully cure until many hours after the final coat was put on. It’s best to use lot of very light dusting costs compared to one thick coat like that. I’ve had really good results with the black duplicolor. Just be prepared to leave your parts out in the open for at least 2 days before getting them in the car. The smell is really strong

Y sprayed my expedition with Rustoleum camo spray paint with clearcoat . It still looks good after 4 years with no scratches. Prep and getting all that oil out od the plastic is gonna give you the best results... Use a strong degreaser ,clean and repeat 3 or 4 times.

I found sem interior paint with adhesion promoter acted the same as the duplicolor.

I've had great results with duplicor vinyl and paint spray complimented by a 2k matte clear coat.

Hows it holding up? I just ordered some 2k clear coat after painting with duplicolor vinyl as well, but have seen people saying not to do it? What’s ur take and how’s it doing
@WizzyWhipitWonderful7 ай бұрын
@@jackson4163 it's holding up just fine; try not to overspray as will ruin your protection layers.
@jackson41637 ай бұрын
@@WizzyWhipitWonderful did you wait a while before spraying (1 week or 1 month) or same day? Thanks for the fast response as well, I’ve just ripped out all of my plastics in truck and really don’t wanna have to do this years down the line😂 I’m up at 3am with work in the morning stressing
@WizzyWhipitWonderful7 ай бұрын
@@jackson4163 I did light coats of the duplicolor with 5 mins in-between each coat and let it cure for the rest of the day. The next day I used the 2k matte clear and used light coats up until my full final coat. Gave it a week's curing time to ensure they fully cured.

Honestly a screwdriver would scratch a brand new car's factory interior. I just wish duplicolor offered this paint in quart cans where you could use a spray gun. And maybe a hardener to make it a little more durable.

I tried to do a beige plastic interior of a Tercel to black many years ago. I washed, lightly sanded, degreased and tried multiple plastic paints, but they all scratched, so as long as you never touched them, they would look fine. If I did it again, I would buy RIT Synthetic dye, and dye them in a heated tub, or try some type of wrap. The dye method would definitely be my "go to" first choice.

@luminor007 would you mind linking the exact carpet dye you used?

Dude! Great side-by-side comparison. I was going to Plasti Dip some interior pieces in my BMW, but now, a after seeing this, definitely Duplicolor Vinyl and Fabric Paint with Duplicolor Primer Adhesive Promoter

In the name of experimentation, I will mention the durabilities of various very good looking faux leathers. Those finishes used are tough ! Is there good PU and PVC spray paints ? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artificial_leather
