Hi everyone - welcome to my painting studio where most of my indoor art works are made. This studio tour covers my work up to mid June as I prepare for my exhibition at Royal Cornwall Museum this summer.
Join me for a look behind the scenes in my studio at Krowji, Redruth, Cornwall UK.

Got a smile at Jimmy Hendrix and marveled at the 3:55 scene . It merged in to your studio. What a beautiful life. Why don't you, if you didn't already did it, paint the scene? Looking forward to this work

Thank you very much - I have painted the view many times. My book 'Views through the studio window' is full of small oil studies of the view. It changes so often just in one day I could probably paint it for the rest of my life and not get bored

@@AndrewBarrowmanArt Thanks for the appreciation. In fact I observed that frame with the book title only after posting the comment and after that gone through all those studies in your website. Such a humongous body of work. Still, IMHO, a view of that window with works on both sides including, may make one great study. Wishing you all the best at your exhibition

nice space with the good big window for light! Is it a building with alot of other artists studios in it? Yes I have always admired Jimi Hendrix too - where did he come from with his out of this world abilities?!!! I do love your charcoal drawings/paintings very much, that long one with a sailboat sailing is a beauty... you do some of them on regular cardboard? do you gesso the cardboard first? Im trying an experiment with using oil paint on watercolor paper that I first coated with water based clear varnish (like Modge Podge decopage varnish) to see what happens. You have such good energy and devotion to your work which is inspiring! thank you for the podcasts!

Hi Andrew, I happened to stumble upon your KZfaq channel and website. I am based in The Netherlands, but my mum is from Cornwall. so know it quite well. Love your outdoor adventures and work you make. Just a question if I may. At the 3:15 mark, I hear you say that the three charcoal sketches have been varnished. Does that mean you do not use a fixative spray? Hope you can give some insight. Thanks and whenever I am in Cornwall again visiting relatives, I'll be sure to visit one of your exhibitions. Take care, Rob
@AndrewBarrowmanArt

Hi Rob Thank you for watching the video. I do spray fixative on the drawings first. Many thin layers until nothing comes off onto my finger. Then I varnish with cold wax medium. Quite a long process but it seems to work ok. Let me know when you’re next in Cornwall and you will be welcome to visit my studio 👍🏻 Best wishes Andrew

Some excellent work and l'm sure it will be a successful exhibition. Where do you get your mouldings from? I find framing takes up a lot of productive time if you do it yourself, but to get it done by a framer costs a fortune if you have many paintings.
