The Old Holland's Brilliant Yellow actually is made up of four pigments: PO73, PW4, PW6, and PY53. One's a bright orange called Pyrole Orange and the other one's Lemon Yellow. And Two of them are zinc whites if I'm not mistaken (I literally just googled it I obviously know this beforehand). That's why it doesn't look like a light yellow compared to the White + Bright Yellow, instead, it looks like a yellow with a hint of red/orange in it. Would look very similar if you added a hint of orange in there but it won't have that brilliance cuz it won't be Pyrole Orange. But similar for sure. Love how the Apelles palette works, it's so fun to see how much we can get out of it.

This pallette's major flaw is it's lack of transparent colors. All the shadows looks opaque and chalky. That's the beauty of having some burnt umber / crimson/ultramarine blue on the pallete it allows you to stay very transparent in the shadow area plus its better for glazing later on. The appelles pallette is just limiting in terms of saturation and effects you can achieve
