Do you like 🤘Trolls🤘? Do you like 🎉big butts🎉?
I cannot lie, I had a blast painting up the new Warhammer Age of Sigmar "mini" Trugg the Troggoth King using the amazing single-pigment paints by Kimera!
In this video I go over my thoughts on Trugg from assembly to fully painted face-smashing Trolldom. I also go over my experience testing out Kimera paints, a very unique brand of paint within the miniature painting hobby.

I like Kimera for the pigment density of the paints. I almost never use them at full strength but mix them with different mediums to get different effects. They work great with both glazing medium and airbrush thinners, The next thing I want to try is contrast paint medium. I also like that they state the pigment on the packaging unlike some other artists miniature paint ranges (I am looking at you scale 75). For color consistency mix the paint with medium in a spare bottle until it's the right consistency to go through an airbrush, you can then use a pipette to accurately recreate the same color repeatedly.

Nice that's a great idea RE: using some spare bottles to premix some colours for consistency. Been meaning to get some to rebottle some paints anyways :) And you're right, they're really versatile, can get some really interesting results with them depending on the mediums used to thin them out. I feel like I have a lot to learn with these paints, really enjoying messing around with them. Thanks for watching - hope you have a good one!

I use almost exclusively Pro Acryl but I just bought a set of the starter set of Kimera mainly for mixing purposes because they are single pigments you can mix them to get some nice colors. I also just purchased Cuttlefish Colors to use for glazing and things.

Oh nice! I've wanted to try Cuttlefish but I've had a tough time sourcing them in Canada. It seems like they're really not easy to find or talked about too much - only creator I've seen use them is Ninjon I think. How do you like them? And are you enjoying the Kimera paints? Pro Acryl became my go to earlier this year but I think Kimera is really nice to experiment with - a lot to learn when playing around with it. Anyways, thanks for watching - really appreciate it. i wanted kimera paint for a long time but it seems that they need to be watered down, so what i did, is to get the left side of the pro acryl starter set and voila, im using the kimera mixing chart to understand what is gonna do what and i dont even have to add anything to the paint

I love ProAcryl, probably my top brand of paint right now. But I think Kimera is amazing too and mixes colours a lot better. I don’t mind that they need to be thinned, I find that to be a good thing, get the consistency I need :) Although I’ll say ProAcryl is perfect right out of the bottle. However, it doesn’t do so well on a wet pallet, I find it gets too thin too quickly. Either way both brands are amazing in my mind :) Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it! Have a good one!

@@Thoadin hahaha not trying to strong arm you at all, some people can get by on dollar store paints. I just like them myself quite a bit - if you’re tempted though I don’t think you’d be disappointed :)
