"Cantata About Stalin" is a Soviet political and patriotic song first written in 1938 by Mikhail Inyushkin and composed by famed Soviet writer Alexander Alexandrov. The lyrics tell of a great song that spans the world sung in honor of the second leader of the Soviet Union and the fourth classic of Marxism-Leninism, Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin. After the murder of Stalin by the Khrushchevites and his denunciation at the revisionist 20th congress, the song fell out of use across the USSR and Eastern Bloc where the song had become popular among communists.

Some people talking about cult of personality. But how do you treat national heroes in your country?? Stalin was not only a national hero, but one of the founders of the country, a glorious commander in a bloody war all in one person. People Who never dreamt of being able to read sent their kids to universities. People loved Comrade Stalin and cried when he died. And not only in the USSR but in Asia, Latin America, Africa, everywhere where there were oppressed people they knew that Comrade Stalin is on their side ❤️

FUN FACT: Many Italian Communist partisans took the battle name "Stalin", and in Naples, when someone has a problem or is a victim of injustice they still say "Adda vení Baffone", which roughly translates from Neapolitan as "Big Mustache has to come here". I leave you one try to guess who "Big Mustache" is.

I used to wonder how people thought that someone as evil as Stalin was a god. How far did someone's cult of personality go? My grandparents, all of whom lived under Stalin, said that they saw people worship him in ways that people like Mussolini or Kim Il-Sung could only dream about. Stalin was not just a leader. He was literally a god. I think his cult of personality would still be around to this day if it wasn't for Khrushchev's secret speech in 1956, or the program of de-Stalinization.

Khrushchev’s report at the 20th Congress of the CPSU was not aimed at “fighting the cult of personality,” no. It's much deeper. In his speech, Khrushchev stated that it was necessary to reconsider the history of the civil war and the great responsible war. That is, to actually rewrite history, that is, to conduct an audit. This was a direct statement that counter-revolutionaries, supporters of Trotsky, came to power in the USSR and planned to carry out the restoration of capitalism in the USSR. And they accomplished this and divided the property by 1991.

That people would buy into this nonsense strikes me as absurd. Why isn't Gorbachev, the best leader Russia ever had, revered as a god, when he should be? Who else could have saved the Soviet Union with Glasnost and Perestroika? Who else could have given the Soviet Union democracy? Who else would have willingly listened to Reagan's plea to "Tear down this wall" between Capitalism and Communism? Stalin wouldn't have done that. So why is he a god and Gorbachev isn't?
@pairtineach1917
@pairtineach1917 9 ай бұрын
You're right about one thing, Stalin wouldn't tear down the wall because, as any German could tell you, "unter Stalin gab es keine mauer." I'll tell you why Gorbachev, and similarly, Brezhnev, Khrushchev and Co. are hated. That is because they set about the restoration of capitalism in the Soviet Union, began the Russification of non-Russian nationalities, and, in fact, overturned the democracy that had existed during the Stalin era. What did Khrushchev do when a section of the CPSU wanted to remove him? He used the Army to crush them. There is a reason why Stalin is revered - industrialisation, smashing fascism, building socialism, the consolidation of democracy - nearly all of which would be undone by Khrushchev and those who came after him.

"Saved the Soviet Union with "Glasnost" and Perestroika" ahahahhahahahahahaa. "Glasnost" and Perestroika destroyed the Soviet Union, and brought misery on a ideological, cultural and economic level to millions of people. Why should anyone praise Gorbachev for bringing misery and one of the biggest death rate in peace time to the Soviet people? And "Glasnost" was admitted by it's architect Alexander Yakovlev that "Glasnost" purpose was to destroy the Soviet state by attacking the ideology and historiography of Marxism-Leninism and the Soviet Union, and by his own words "totalitarian party discipline, while hiding behind the interests of improving socialism". "After the 20th Congress, in the ultra-narrow circle of our closest friends and like-minded people, we often discussed the problems of democratization of the country and society. They chose a method as simple as a sledgehammer to propagate the "ideas" of the late Lenin. It was necessary to clearly, clearly and distinctly isolate the phenomenon of Bolshevism, separating it from the Marxism of the last century. That is why they tirelessly talked about the "genius" of late Lenin, about the need to return to Lenin's "plan for the construction of socialism" through cooperation, through state capitalism, and so on. A group of real, not imaginary, reformers developed (orally, of course) the following plan: to strike at Stalin, at Stalinism, with Lenin's authority. And then, in case of success, Plekhanov and Social Democracy beat Lenin, liberalism and "moral socialism" beat revolutionaryism in general. A new round of exposure of the "cult of personality of Stalin" began. But not with an emotional outcry, as Khrushchev did, but with a clear implication: the criminal is not only Stalin, but the system itself is criminal". "The Soviet totalitarian regime could only be destroyed through glasnost and the totalitarian discipline of the party, while hiding behind the interests of improving socialism". "In retrospect, I can proudly say that the clever but very simple tactic - the mechanisms of totalitarianism against the system of totalitarianism - worked". All quotes from Alexander Yakovlev in the introduction of "The black book of communism" Russian edition
@mikeor-
@mikeor- 7 ай бұрын
@@pairtineach1917 But Gorbachev also increased industrialization, was devoutly anti-fascist, claimed to be a Communist, and part of Glasnost and Perestroika was Democracy itself. If Gorbachev did similar things to Stalin, why isn't he revered? He actually cared about his people. Stalin killed twenty million Soviet citizens. Gorbachev killed ZERO.
