Actually sleeper class is also quite affordable in India but the issue is those reserved seats like , Sleeper class , chair car , Ac coups and cabins will be filled up months in advance , its because despite the huge railway network in India still the network is not sufficient to meet the demand

Local trains ke general compartmenet are way better then express trains general compartments.

Government don't make profit from lower classes. * Based on my personal experience long distance trains have problems of overcrowding while shorter distance trains do not have such problem. The main reason for this is long distance trains are few compared to shorter duration trains. I regularly take general class for short upto 200 300 km distance. * Railway is called lifeline of nation because it really is available for poorest of poor and connect places which otherwise economically not feasible. Without railways people have to rely upon private bus operators which would be beyond afford of many people. For example if same distance abrar (KZfaq) would have covered it would be 25,000 Rs of just fuel forgot hotels foods etc. I think Indian railways offers cheapest travel option in India. * there is only 2 general coaches in long-distance trains out of 22 coaches.

Hardly anyone travels such a distance in a general class coach. People mostly travel only for short distances in general class.

General class coach are not having confirmed tickets. That's why it is always a rush. Number of general coaches are getting reduced, now we can see at most 3 coaches.

General Boggie ek Train me maximum 4 hoti hai. Baaki kam rupees me reserved kar ke travel karne ke liye 12 boggie Sleeper ki hoti hai and Ac ki 8-10 hoti hai.

Indian railways nowadays decreasing sleeper coaches and increasing 3rd Ac.. there are hardly 2 or 3 sleeper coaches in many trains i used to travel.. nowadays 3rd Ac is like crowded like hell..

In India, we have tank below train for collections and maintain ace and cleaning done on request and for that travelers should log complaint on train app or no 190 or 109 . everything is as per system, people are not aware and see the population.
