2 жыл бұрынWhile Pakistan has been waiting for Turkey to deliver the ATAK helicopters, Philippines was lucky to crack the deal first. The Philippines is the first foreign buyer of the Tactical Reconnaissance and Attack Helicopter (ATAK). Turkey will reportedly be delivering the first T129 ATAK helos to the Philippines in December. However, experts say Pakistan’s T129 deal is expected to remain in a limbo until Turkey gets a political go-ahead from Washington.

Vey Simple, The engine used in the ATAK is American Made!. Hence, Turkey needs to get approval from US if Turkey intends to export these machines. So far, the US have NOT approved the request to sell PAK, but approved the sale to Philippines. Turkey is developing their own Engine for the ATAK and T626 (TS1400), when that engine gets the required certifications and approval, then Turkey can export the ATAK using Turkis made engine and hence NO need for any foriegn countries approval.

The engine isn't American made nor T-129 is licensed production at all rather Turkey bought all licenses and developed it's own attack helicopter which is modernized and far superior than base model A-129. However US refused to sell export rights for the engine so Turkey had to buy domestic production license and could produce a billion engines really but can't export them to other countries without approval. Pakistan deal isn't also in limbo rather waiting for Turkish helicopter engine to be finished which will happen in 2023 or 2024, most probably before it is finished US will give export approval as well to prevent Turkey producing and exporting it's own engine. As in long term it means Turkey will become one of very few helicopter engine developers...

China can’t even make their own engine for their stealth jet and bought it from Russia. Well you must be so optimistic, they can make an engine copy but not on their own invent since engine takes many years to develop not just 3 years. We have also having a deal with India to acquired PJ-10 BrahMos Missiles as our Land Based Defense System to protect the shorelines of the WPS. And also our Philippine Navy is interested to acquired more BrahMos as Coastal Defense and also soon to be armed if the Navy wants to make a Destroyer. That's the Ultimate plan of the Defense Secretary.

I think Turkey is NOT intentionally delaying the delivery of these helicopters to our friends. Unfortunately the engines (as of today) are made by Honeywell (a U.S. company). When/If Turkey wants to sell these helicopters to another country, they have to get permission from the US because of the engines.

Wrong. Turkey replaced the engine with a non US made one, hence it's now able to export the helicopter.. The old engine were made by a US company and the US has not given a licence to Turkey to export the engine component of the ATAK helicopter.

By then it’ll take another 3 years to test and stress test an indigenous made engines! Because you don’t want it to fail! And I believe majority of the components off that turkey made engines will come from America! In which they will block! If turkey decides to sell it to Pakistan!

Very great decision, Phillipines wanted helos to counter Chinese aggression in Indo-Pacific and they get it.... Pakistan wants it to savour its investments for terrorism to stabilise after May 2011 and they don't get it... Pakistan is a lost interest for USA and Turkey is NATO and already suffering from S400 sanctions.. so it is what it is 😁😄

Nope i think manila will be focusing on another fleet of T-129B because its more value for money and the T-129B fits the requirements of the technical working group of the Ph air force, and according to TWG of PAF, it par closely to the AH1- Viper of The US when it comes to performance and armaments its just a little less on range and a bit less of payload than the Viper, but the T-129 are much smaller and compact silhouette so it will give it a smaller target signature to the enemy's crosshairs,, its also suits perfectly to the Philippine hot tropical climate,. And the Turkish govt, gives the Philippines a chance of technology transfer for this helos if the Philippine will consider buying another fleet of T-129B, since the Philippines got the permission from Washington to use its license engine it would be an outstanding offer of turkey to the Philippine to buy another batch of T-129B ATAK,

Aside from these 6 Turkish ATAK helicopters, Philippines fully received the 16 S-70i black hawk helicopter recently and already approved the budget for the additional 32 more s-70i and 6 units of 83.4 meters offshore patrol vessels for coastal defence from Australia but will be constructed in Cebu Philippines (Philippines will later on can make warships). Ground based Air defense system such as India's BRAHMOS and Israel's SPYDER are also done deal. Trainings for operators started last March.

Atak helicopter is 5 ton class but atak 2 is 10 ton class as TAI General manager informed that atak 2 will much better then Apache helicopters. So Pak can get easily atak 2 as no more required export licenses.

Correct. TEI's own engine is undergoing certification tests and there's also a Ukrainian engine option. Turkey will likely never buy engines from the unreliable US again. But AFAIK, Pakistan isn't interested in heavy "tank hunters" at this time so they probably won't place orders for Atak-2s anytime soon.

Because Indias Light combat helicopter is on par or better and cheaper than the 'Turkish helicopter'. The Pakistani decision to wait for Turkish heli proves that Indian helicopter is the best light attack helicopter in the market. Indias heli can climb to height of 6500m which possibly could help in its survivability. I dont know for sure but guessing regarding the height/survivability aspect.

If the Philippine Air Force will use it, armored vehicles don't matter. Cause they'll be used against communist rebels and islamist terrorists hiding in the mountains. No armored vehicles there. If these heli's are equipped with night vision/thermal scanners, there'll be no place to hide for the insurgents.

Turks have already made it self designed making it very diffrent from A129. It is 99% made by Turks apart from the engine of course. But Tai is one of the biggest engine pice producer company which provides almost all flying air craft engines for over 40 years. So Tai has already been developing their own 1400 turbochaft jet engine for Ataks. So soon most will be obvious

The Philippines has a good history of making a bigger follow on order once they are satisfied with the product. For example they initially bought 16 s70i Blackhawks and then 2 years later they ordered another 32 units. It is very likely that after the Philippines received all the T129 and fully operate them they will make an order of 12-18 units.
