Imperial Blue is really a whiskey brand. In India it's illegal to advertise alcohol. So companies advertise it as a music-series, soda, etc. by using loopholes in the laws.

It is actually a liquor brand. This is called masked advertisement. Because as per Indian TV rules, alcohol is not allowed to be advertised. So they make such ads in name of CD or anything else, so that atleast Imperial blue name is known in public

This is called Surrogate Advertising….meaning advertising for the brand to promote original products but doing it indirectly by promoting other products of the same brand or sponsoring other products like sponsoring music or events. Same way Bacardi/Smirnoff (Rum nd Vodka brands) use to bring out music CDs and sponsor events and music parties. Imperial Blue is an Indian Alcohol brand famous for its whisky, vodka and gin etc

No it's liquor , you are right. But drink companies are prohibited from marketing directly so they sell music CDs and mineral water bottles which you can never see on stores. Only for adv. They only sell liquor..

In India they can't advertize alcohal brands so companies make a subsidiary company for ads with the same name for cassettes and CDs but their main (probably only) product is alcohal.

Imam and Moazzam - Imperial Blue is actually a Alcohol Brand. In India you cannot advertise alcohol, cigarates, etc in mass media openly. Therefore these companies hammer the brand name under some other acceptable product Ads such as Soft Drinks, T Shirts, Shoes, etc. Its called Surogate Advertising. So while alcohol users know what Imperial Blue stands for ( i.e. alcohol), but such Ads reinforce and hammer the brand name again and again and that helps in the brand name sticking in peoples mind. Imoerial Blue kya hai ye toh sabko already pata hai ... lekin iss adv se brand name dimag mei baith jata hai.
