The Munawar thing, I have been retrospecting all this year, and here it is- The funny part is 99% people don't even know what he said which people are eventually objecting. He had a set on Ram and sita. Like ram went on vanvas, and could have extra marital affair and sita wouldn't let any b*tch do that and all that stuff. That's the major context to it. The thing is, I am an atheist, so I care the least, but to the extreme believers that's hurtful, and there is a IPC stating "you are punishable if you hurt the religious sentiments of people based on caste creed religion etc." for which he also served jail time. I can't say if that's right o' wrong. But he got punished enough for 37 days in jail, so it done and dusted lesson learnt. But you see there are extremists everywhere. Just yesterday I guess, a man from Sri Lanka was burnt in Pakistan after being lynched because of blasphemy. Even the France case of drawing a cartoon. I don't know if Quran says you to do that. I am not playing any blame game here, but people do crazy stuff in the name of religion. And these kind of extremists are present all around the world.

Munawar's show got cancelled and rightly so, they said if he goes ahead with the show they'll protest infront of the venue, that's better than beheading people, if you can't take a joke on your god don't expect others to as well. The last time someone made cartoons on a religion, there was a bomb blast at the media house, a teacher was beheaded, people in church were stabbed and a particular nation was boycotted in multiple countries including yours. I'm a South Indian and from the city where his show got cancelled, and I'm happy that my city stood up against such hate mongers who propagate their agenda in the garb of "comedy", I'm all for freedom of expression, but when you selectively pick on someone they won't take it lying down, it becomes abusive at a certain point when you get targeted over and over again, and I'm happy to see that we are all standing together on this issue. Him getting cancelled has nothing to do with his religion, that victim card has been exhausted, there are many successful muslim stand ups who are loved because they perform clean comedy and aren't abusive.
