I am from mumbai ...i am proud to be from maharashtra.... Dhol tasha is soul of we people of Maharashtra .... Actually this dhol tasha is used in ancient times both at war time and in festivals... In times of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj times dhol tasha was a war cry music used to motivate soldiers.

Dhol Tasha is associated with the Great Maratha Warrior Shivaji Maharaj , as war practice beat along with Prayer. First one was The Scottish bagpipers. Every state of India has Different variety of Drums and sets of beats. I remember only once in Chennai the Govt organised All Indian and international Drum groups performance in a stadium. Bharathnatyam is the most ancient dance form mainly performed in Temples for the Divine. It is considered the most symmitrical dance, facial, hand gestures with foot movements set to a tune are used with music. The dance form has set rules on costume, jewellery etc whereas Kathak is story based also temple tradition transferred to Kings Courts, also has many foreign influence of that time. India has 6 classical dance forms. All r unique and special. And r flourishing even today.

There r 8 types of classical dances from India. Kathak/UP, Bharatnattyam/Tamilnadu, Kathakali/Kerala, Mohiniyattam/Kerala, Odissi/Odhisha, Sattriya/Assam, Manipuri/Manipur and Kuchipudi/Andhra Pradesh. Further Bhangra is dance of all PUNJABIS and not only of Sikh community.

Bahut jaldi dekh liya thoda aur time lagate... Aur jo wo bhagwa jhande ki significance hai wo maratha empire se related hi hai. Us band ko nasik dhol bola jata hai aur uske kuch rules hote hai jabtak wo bhagwa jhanda hawa mein rahega tab tak dhol bajega kyuki use victory music ke taur pe use kiya jata tha swarajya ke waqt although this dhol dates back well before shivaji's swarajya movement but certain rules were adopted as struggles of hindus began aur usse sirf ganpati visarjan mein hi use nahi kiya jaata balki Shivaji jayanti, aur bhi kai festivals, celebrations mein use hota hai in maharashtra. Aur ye to india ke sirf do hi bands hai abhi to bahut saare hai even maharashtra mein bhi kafi prakar ke dhol hai. Aur ye ko bands hote hai inhe mauka mile to personally experience karna jo vibes aati wo alag hi level ki thi jaisa aaplogo ne dekha bhi hoga public was enjoying kyuki inki beats bahut alag vibration deti hai.

That music was actually used to fear the opposite Mughals at the tym of Aurangzeb !! That was a sign of " Huzoor Marathe aaa gaye"!!😍😍 That is maharashtrian culture!! Ye Maharashtra ka hi hai!!!chilll!!!! And uske bad wo humare culture ka part ho gaya!!! It was also used to bring ppl together!! Ganpati Festival was Actually started by Tilak to bring ppl together!!!

Yup.. it is related to Maratha empire and Marathis/ Maharashtra in general, or rather the foundation of Maratha empire which was the Bhakti movement ( movement of devotion) also called Varkari Sampraday. It than continued toward the tradition of Ganpati Visarjan!
