1000000+ Applicant, about 10000 selected in Prelims, 3000 in mains n 700-800 finally selected after interview. Out of these 700-800 Selected candidates approx only 100 top rankers get allotted to IAS. And the most important point: Here applicants includes IITians, NITians, Doctors, IIM Graduates and graduates from other top quality institutes like DU, ZNU, BHU, AIIMS etc. So, not only quantity but a quality competition too.

100 seats of ias for general category overall there is about 180 seats in total

and from those 700-800 only 25-30 students get selected for IFS-Indian Foreign Service and in case you wanna be an IFS officer then success rate is even less than 0.2% people who represent India and this is the reason why the world appreciates Indians and we are able to crack toughest exams through just fingertips because we used to competition since childhood. In the list of top 5 most difficult exams in the world 3 exams are just from India which includes UPSC, JEE Advanced and GATE (i'm not sure of GATE but clear for others)

One of the toughest qualifying exams in the world for 2 reasons 1) High quality of selection 2) sheer number of people attempting. I tried 2 times, but failed both occasions. Luckily I had a Engineering degree, moved to USA 30 years back. No regrets.

Animesh Mishra It is not world toughest exam .toughest exam are always science subject exam .In India its JEE(m) and in world its China's gaokao and korean entrance exam. UPSC is hard only due to low seat count. its hard but not tough.

God forbid ,I never agreed to my father's push to take this exam. I can confirm it is most difficult exam of world (in terms of chance of selection). Out of Million people only 60 become IAS + and few 100s other ranks.if you get through you have ensured great future for whole family ,if you fail after all Attempts ,you are behind by your peers by at least 5 years.But kudos to all who dare to take this exam seriously,not easy to have that courage.

Hi Iman & Moazzam , there is another exam which is equally hard to crack but it is associated with one of the leading private co. TATA. And the exam is "TAS" Tata Advministrative Services which was conceived by the great JRD TATA. Candidates are recruited from in-house as well as from premium institutes like IIMs. Candidates who clears this gets a higher level posting in TATA Group of co. itself.

Thank you so much for reacting this video because my family member doing this job. *Meri badi sister IAS officer hai just Abhi unki training ho Rahi hai* maine bhi try Kiya tha UPSC nahi. MPSC lower variant exam ki taiyari but I was failed. Fir baad main socha ke bhai apna business hi accha hai 😀😀.bohot tough training Hoti hai yaar video dekhne ke pahale hi Bata Raha hoon.! This is the training process only...Isse phle UPSC dena hota h ...Pre+ CSAT, GS-1, GS-2, GS-3 and GS-4 , Essay paper, 2 language paper, 2 Optional papers and than Personality test after that u will be able to get this training opportunity... ❤️🥺..I also an UPSC aspirant...1st attempt in 2024.

Now days after all this training and so many years of service 80 percent of IAS retire with 50 to 100cr Net Worth ...or maybe more ...that is why it is one of the toughest exams in India.
