Arain are primarily a mix of Kamboh, Saini, Maliar and West and South Punjab's agricultural tribes like Bhutta etc. In northern Punjab they are primarily a mix of Kamboh and Maliar, In East Punjab they were primarily a mix of Bhutta and Saini, whereas in central Punjab they are a mix of Kamboh and West Punjab agricultural clans that just got merged at some point in history. The core of Arains was however started by Kambohs without any doubt. But many Kamboh also maintained their pure existence because of which Kamboh still exist as separate tribe in Punjab but most got "Arainized" by mixing with Maliars, Sainis and other non-Jatt agricultural clans of south and West Punjab.
