This dials are one of the key reasons I decided to go with Fuji when I first switched from traditional DSLR to Mirrorless. I feel so much more in control of my shots! Although I’ve been using my X-T2 and now my X-T4 for a few years now, there were some things I hadn’t taken the time to learn about the flexibility of the dials … thanks for reviewing them all so well.

I love love love my top dials it so easy to just change something if it’s like on a tripod and I’m in front of the camera or something and just doing normal photography. It’s so easy. And you don’t have to dig through settings or hold multiple buttons to change setting which is awsome and a completely unique experience to taking photos compared to like a canon I was using in school… I’m so glad I got my x-t3

NOTE that you can still use the rear command dial to fine-tune to third stop increments when you've chosen a number value on the top shutter speed dial. It is restricted to a small range of third stops above and below the next full stops.

Then why fuji still put the individual Shutters peed Dial rather than out other ulti usable dial ?
@viktorpaulsen627
@viktorpaulsen627 Жыл бұрын
This gives a quite unstable, jerky workflow. (I have an X-E2.) First set the shutter speed on the top dial, then tune with rear dial, then find that tuning goes too short, then change handgrip on camera to move hand to top dial, and then change shutterspeed on top dial and tune on rear dial and repeat whole sequence (...). Why punish oneself by disallowing the rear dial to set all shutterspeeds? I have set the top shutterspeed dial to T, (and let it stay there forever), which lets me set all shutterspeeds with rear dial, which is quicker and not jerky. So the top dial then is just for vintage look and no practical purpose.
@null0byte
@null0byte 5 ай бұрын
@@viktorpaulsen627I’m glad that works for you. I’m not unnecessarily hunting through a giant list of minute shutter speed changes to get to the exposure, so for me a larger step then a final fine step works faster. I set the larger step as close as possible then since the fine tune goes both up and down by a few partial steps, it’s just one minor adjustment after that. My hand is big enough to turn the shutter speed dial with my index finger while the rear controls are too cramped for my hands to use them for very long. I’m glad Fujifilm has it.

I wanted to thank you. I recently bought a Fujifilm X-T4 with the 16-80 and thanks to your videos (I will have seen 100 in one day haha) I was able to set everything up without problems, and to understand how the camera works. I ask you a favor though (which maybe could be useful to those who vlog). Could you make a video dedicated to this? Because I noticed that the Fujifilm X-T4 (as I think the other models), if during a vlog outside you set even one of the values (ISO / focal or shutter) automatically, the continuous brightness change (due to the maybe passing from the shade to the sun, or simply the clouds) changes the exposure in a "jerky" way. that is, the change that the camera makes is not delicate, but it seems that there are "scales" between one value and another. This was not the case with other brands. Maybe there is some setting or advice you can give to those who want to use the X-T4 also for Vlogging. I would be grateful. :) Greetings from Italy!

I was out of photography for over 20 years. I picked up a used D60. I loathe going through menus to get to the manual settings that I was so comfortable with in the film days. I kept saying, I need dials. I find it exciting to see that someone makes a camera that resembles me, LOL. Then I saw the price. I shoot wildlife close up, in full manual (usually birds, deer, snakes, and turtles). I'll never get a $1,000 better picture from the new stuff compared to my 20+ year old Nikon. While I'd love the knobs, and as much as I hate the menu's (I just can't see as well). I could never justify this expense as I am a RAW Amateur. LOL. I applaud Fuji for keeping knobs alive. Perhaps someday I'll find a bargain one. Thank you for sharing.

After 6 years of owning and using my Fujifilm X-T2, and assuming I knew all my dial settings, I thought, why not be like an athlete and practice the fundamentals, and check out the video. Much to my surprise, I had never noticed the "T" option on the shutter speed dial. I doubt that it's something I'll use on a regular basis, but knowing it's there, and knowing how to use it correctly is truly worthwhile. Thanks Pal2Tech!!!

This is why I absolutely love my X-T1 even tho the iso dial can be quirky for others (since it's always locked and requires three fingers to turn, gotta press the button and turn the dial) The X-T (single digit) series does encourage you to use it like a film camera and in manual mode.

I've been around cameras and five different manufactures of cameras since 1974 but I still learned something new in this video. As you can imagine, when I first got my Fuji X - T1, I just took the shutter speed dial for granted. So I either choose a shutter speed, set it on the dial, and ignore the "B" setting, or set it to "A." So I never noticed or paid any attention to the "T" setting. I found the info on the T setting to be useful. When I bought my X T1 I had purchased it for a self imposed project. I say this because I bought the X T1 when the X T3 was out. But for my project, touring rural areas on my bike and shooting using one of four primes I had for my Fuji camera was a heck of lot less clunky compared to my Canon 5D 4 and assort "L" lenses, easier to take on my bike. And, if I fell off the bike for whatever reason, easier to replace financially with the Fuji gear (used) than my Canon gear. So I bought the XC 50 - 230 lens as a muck about lens, not for serious work, but good enough for everything else. But when I first put in on my X T1, I remember trying to figure out how to adjust the aperture, took for ages.

Hey Paul, long time viewer, first time poster. I love the videos. You very much remind me of my uncle, a man who was my father figure when I was growing up. Sorry about the tangent, here’s my comment: You can still make 1/3 of ss adjustments by rotating the dial even when not in T. The only difference is that it will keep you from going beyond a certain number. For example, if you select a 125ss your option will be 80, 100, 125, and 160. You won’t be able to go below 80 or above 160 because those number are you next available options in the dial itself, 60 & 180. I find that much more useful than using the T option…UNLESS I’m shooting astro, than the T is absolutely necessary. Thank you for all the amazing videos and tips!

I'm fairly new to the Fujifilm system but thanks to this channel I have settled into two modes. When hand held I set my ISO to automatic, the shutter speed to T so that I can adjust using the back command dial, the exposure to C so that I can use the front command dial, and set my aperature to a fixed value to control my depth of field. It works for me so that I never need to take my eye away from the EVF. For tripod use, I use all of the dials as needed. Again, thanks pal2tech!!

I am using Fuji X-S10, to which this episode might be obviously not applicable, but I am using settings similarly as you described (left blank wheel dial in my case assigned to ISO, rear command dial assigned to shutter speed, simillar as "T" setting in your X-T4 and of course apeture on the lens or front command dial). Thanks for the video Chris! It could have been interesting to tell why we are using a specific mode or another. For example, the use of Bulb mode for Astrophotography.

When I'm travelling in my truck I've been keeping my new X-T3 in full auto mode just to get the shot that may pop up one second and be gone the next. However, I've found that the camera will always choose the highest ISO available. In my case 6400. So, my suggestion is to not choose auto ISO but set it to a lower one to avoid grainy photos.

It's fitting that Fujifilm camera names start with an X because I really feel that they have a special x factor that other cameras lack. They just look, feel and operate so much more interesting.
