I've always been intrigued by portable fridges and freezers, so when ICECO reached out to me and asked if I would be interested in checking one of their models out, it was easy to say yes. What got me excited was the duel zone capability, and I think you will like it as well. Check it out!

We went camping 2 weeks ago and a friend of mine had bought (another brand) of portable refrigerator/freezer and I tied it into my 100watt solar panel, 54 ah Dakota LiPo battery with 450 watt pure syne inverter. 5 days later it was like we were at home. It worked perfect. My point was, he did not know the power consumption and we were remote with no cell for us to look it up. You should be able to run it all night off a 600 watt portable power supply with ease. These things are great. Thank you for another informative video.

This unit is more efficient than higher end units. I like to stick a few blue ice packs in mine. Helps with run time and is a great back up if it comes unplugged.

Looks nice! At the moment I am still enjoying the versatility of my absorption cooler. 230V, 12V or propane/butane with the same device is hard to beat. But that Iceco cooler is a lot more capable cooling wise.

Thanks Doc for the review. My wife and I picked up something much smaller than this for around $300. We use it in our SUV while pulling the travel trailer. We have had it about three years and it continues to work great even though it is a single chamber you can use it as a frig or freezer. Expensive yes, and heavy, but really works great and no ice to buy.

Earnie, thanks for expanding the scope of your channel! I would like it if you were to do a series on different backpacks, especially ultralight packs compared to heavier internal frame packs, at least in terms of comfort with the kind of loads you might carry on a multi-day trip. As a side, Coleman used to make a refrigerated cooler that used a Peltier junction cooler. I bought one in the late 90's for around $50 - $60. It was capable of keeping the temperature about 40 degrees below ambient, which saved a bundle on supplemental ice. It ran on either an A/C adapter or direct D/C from the car. I used it extensively when visiting Big Bend, where ice was fairly pricey, and when visiting Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico. I don't know if they still make it, but given the price, it was hard to beat.

I have a different brand but I'll tell you I am impressed with these type of units, the may seem heavy compared to a cooler, but then once you fill those with ice it evens the score. Mine even has a solar input that you can use if you have the removable battery! I'd never go back to an ice type cooler.

Hey Ernie, great vid! First of all, thanks for being honest at the beginning of the video and the last. I was wondering about this specific brand for a few months now. Pretty cool looking! I have a Bodega 38 Quart cooler and have been running it for almost 5 months now, usually on weekend, and it's been amazing. I like this one you reviewed. Thanks for sharing!

this would be good for those who need to keep certain prescription meds cold during a power outage, would be nice if it had an internalbatteery which wouldlet it run

Within 3 minutes i knew he hadnt spent more than a few days "off grid' I went off grid in 1997... full time, several miles from the power lines. For the first few years i hauled ice. I saved and experimented a lot and eventuality bought a sunfrost fridge. Running on DC is far more efficient than converting to ac just to convert back to dc again. I own a 55 quart Mini fridge like this for camping. 2 77 watt panels keep it and everything else besides air conditioning of course. I use 1250 watts of pv and 450 watts wind power to power the house plus 110 watts of pv on the well. 13000 gallons of rain water storage supplies 99 percent of my water use

That's one of the medium sizes. I'm interested in their smaller ones. Just yesterday I told somebody to expect the next thing I add to my peddling cart to be a refrigerator. 😂

I'll stick with my 2 f40c4tmp fridges. Theyre cheap, but use the same compressors as the big names and their customer service is far better than any othwr company I talked to

I’ve been looking at these dual zone coolers, but looking to invest in a portable power station first to power it off grid.
