"We have been humiliated. We are fed up with our situation. There is no proper food, no proper water, no proper bathrooms, no proper place to sleep. We experience fear and terror while sleeping. How does a tent protect against shrapnel or bullets? Fear, fear. There is no safety, no safety at home and no safety in the tents either. There is no safe place to go to."

"There is suffering, as you can see. There is no transportation. There isn't even a place to go to for our safety. Where to go? We don’t know. Yesterday, we dismantled (our tent) as they said, 'evacuation, evacuation.' But we don’t know where to go. Where should we go? Where will we even find a place? We don’t know yet."

"I have dismantled my tents. Here are my possessions thrown in the street and I don't know where to go. I don't know of a safe area, so my children and I can go (there). They say that an area is safe, but it turns out that its is not safe at all. We keep getting displaced from one area to another."

STORYLINE:
Palestinian families on Tuesday were fleeing the eastern parts of Gaza’s second largest city, Khan Younis hours after an Israeli evacuation order.
The Israeli army ordered a mass evacuation of Palestinians from much of Khan Younis on Monday.
Most of the displaced people - including many women and children - fled on foot overnight as the Israeli military bounded areas in eastern Khan Younis.
Others loaded their belongings on trucks and other vehicles, and fled the area.
The displaced people headed westward to the city center and further to the overwhelmed Muwasi area that Israel’s military has designated as a humanitarian zone.
Many spent their night in the open, and outside the Nasser and al-Amal hospitals in Khan Younis.
Noha al-Bana, a displaced woman from Gaza City, evacuated her home and was waiting close to the European Hospital for a vehicle to transport her belongings.
Like many others, she was displaced multiple times since the Israel-Hamas war started on Oct. 7.
"We have been humiliated," she said, while she was waiting in the open under the burning summer sun.
"How does a tent protect against shrapnel or bullets? Fear, fear. There is no safety, no safety at home and no safety in the tents either. There is no safe place to go to," she added.
Umm Badran al-Sawafiri, another displaced woman, said there is no safer place for those fleeing eastern Khan Younis.
"We don’t know where to go. Where should we go? Where will we even find a place? We don’t know yet," she said, speaking a day after she dismantled her tent following the Israeli army's evacuation orders.
That’s more than 10% of Gaza’s population of 2.3 million.
