This video is intended to be card linked from the palette pcb video. The palette pcb was functional on first test but one of the led’s was less bright than the others. This is the quick investigation and fix of that.

It's amazing how little difference 100 ohms makes regardless of the tolerance, even for aesthetics. I'm still getting used to things like this, and it's good to be reminded of such things every now and then.

That wasn't 100 ohms different. That was the magnitude value so it was 10x off!

@@JamesSharmanExtras My fault. I meant the fix, not the problem. I am easily the kind of person who could get hung up on waiting for 1K resistors to come in through the mail before proceeding, instead of using the 1100 ohm resistor I already have. I'm still getting used to just how forgiving electronics can be.

Thanks for the sample book investigation, I'll have to double-check mine next time! If the value is somewhat important I use a DMM to verify the actual resistance, I've never seen incorrect markings (on the part itself) but sometimes they aren't readable.

I think now I can work it out form the number, not sure what to do about the capacitors though. They are generally not marked.

Second! And thanks for the short vid on this fix. I was wondering if it where a resistor or an oscillation issue. Like PWM.

When I was assembling the board I paused very briefly when I looked at that resistor. I knew something didn't look right!

@@JamesSharmanExtrasThat happens sometimes ! Glad you didn't " resist " the urge to make a correction ^^
