I agree with Angela8955, Henry was born outside of the curse bubble, so he is exempt, much like a foreigner coming to an island to start a new life. Everyone else born on that island has had their immune system shifted and adapted from birth by taking medications and left outside to sleep. The new person coming in years, decades later will become ill and be bedridden for a while because he/she has not gone through the adapting or shift of environment yet. This bubble has no effect on the residents but it has some effect on the newcomer. In reverse, for Henry, the curse has no effect on him but it has an effect on the residents. If they leave that bubble, they will forget their past lives and memories, now they must live out in the real world. This shift of two memories, two characters, and two personalities, becomes singular; no more ailment/curse. 🌹🔔
