Pallet walkway diy, is easy, creative, and pretty much free except for the nails I used. I am Marcie Ziv, artist and avid gardener. My channel is all about showing you fun, creative ways to enhance your garden, and home using mostly upcycled items. As someone who grows their own food I also show various recipes using fresh food from my garden. This exciting use of #reclaimed wood gives you a beautiful, functional walkway thru your garden allowing you to enjoy your space even more. The tools I used were a sawzall, hammer, drill, safety glasses, crowbar and a pair of work gloves. I sent out a text to neighbors asking if they had pallets as well as every time I went to Home Depot to order mulch I had a fork lift drop the mulch with pallet on to my truck. All together I had about 10 pallets. I also purchased several bags of 8" nails from #TheHomeDepot. The only thing I could think of adding to this walkway was perhaps stenciled farmhouse things like HERBS, or Est. 1862 or something like that. ..maybe in the future. However I am happy the way it turned out. The path gives a natural rustic look and truly helps define and give clarity to my food forest.Thankyou for watching and if you have any questions please feel free to comment below!
****TIP: Use Thomsons Water Sealer or a product that is able to seal the wood before laing down. I went back and painted both sides with sealer.

Thank you and I appreciate you watching my video. Ancient ruins are rather lovely I’d say…think of all the ruins around the world and we pay to see them and you’d have your own in your very backyard🥰 and yes… copy me. (Water seal the boards before laying them down they will last longer)

What kind of plastic did you put down? I'm finding that having my sod removed is quite expensive. What do you think about putting some weed barrier down on top of the grass and then putting the pallets on that?

Hello. I used the plastic from my mulch bags as well as biodegradable bags that I got from Starbucks ( I got boatloads of coffee grinds). Using a fabric weed barrier is ok. You should be fine with that. Thank you for watching my channel. 😊

Hi there! I used the anchoring spikes normally used with the black plastic edging liner… home depot sells them I used 8” spikes by vigoro… in another section of the forest I also used metal spikes also 8” from hd… however the vigoro have worked out very well and I don’t find the need to spend the xtra $$ on the metal. They’ve held up well! Thank you for watching. I truly appreciate it 🦋

Hindsight 20:20 I would of sealed the wood first on both sides before laying down. Thompson sealer is a good bet.

Did you sand the wood first because of splinters?

Hello. No I didn’t sand any of the wood. The pallet boards were in pretty good condition and for where they were going I wouldn’t walk barefoot. For these considerations sanding wasn’t necessary. Thank you for watching!

I used pallet wood, landscaping nails (hammer to drive nails) drill to make holes for your nails … If I did this again I’d use a sealer for wood. Seal both sides that’s it. Thank you for watching!

Hi. No. However I pressure clean every once and a while. It gets wet a really lot as my irrigation is right there. However so far so good😃thank you for watching’
