There are no words to describe the emotions behind this experience! An 11 hours race to goal! This was a spontaneous trip to Brazil thanks to a friend who invited me. We were playing the world pandemic and after two weeks even prolonged our stay with Veso Ovcharov in the hope that conditions will improve. We knew that we had the skills to fly 500 km plus but we needed a good day. The entire process is extremely exhausting and failed attempts cost you so much energy. Wake up at 5, be ready to take-off at 6:30-7, fly 9-11 hours, another 8-12 hours of retrieve, sleep, repeat...Much more a military camp than a paragliding trip. I had all my camera gear with me but these were the only 3 flights I have used them because I quickly realized that in order to break the 500 km barrier there is absolutely no time to waste getting busy with cameras. It is like being in a competition for the entire day, you need to push, observe, and make decisions non-stop!
Many thanks to Veso Ovcharov for being a spiritual partner in crime on this mission and help me with all your experience of the region (he also made 530 km the next day!), to Maurice Knur to share national records and the unforgettable joy of flying and landing together that day, to Eurismar Jr. from Quixadaaventura for the professional logistics and Ozone Paragliders for making the best wings on the planet!
