I know this project upset some people, specifically those close to Pam, because it could “reopen a wound” for her. This is understandable. But I think it’s an important story to tell because I had no idea about what happened to her until I watched it. She’s been objectified for so long and this show really humanizes her. Sebastian and Lily are phenomenal in this.

I just wanted to add something. I had heard of this and this was big news at that point. really big news. I mean Anderson was very well known. And the news said Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee. And I was wondering why had Pamela Anderson married the actor from The Fugitive. He was old and not so good looking. Really seemed strange. The Fugitive had released the same time and Tommy Lee Jones was getting rave reviews for his performance. It was the movie that was his breakthrough role in Hollywood. So I thought that maybe he did marry Pamela Anderson.

This show is so great. I couldn’t believe by episode 3 I’m actively routing for Tommy and Pam. Sebastian and Lily bring so much humanity and pathos to their performances.

I know many people are upset that Pamela herself wasn't in favour of this show but, it has actually worked in her favour cos now people know what actually happened. I know it's decades later but still it's helping both of them regain voice by letting people know it wasn't them who leaked the tape. Lot of people thought they did this for money and and nobody knew how damaging it was for both of them especially Pamela. So in a way show did her good.

@@lsmith7461 I guess for the same reason I would've asked when I've read your comment... I am from Eastern Europe, but I know who Pamela Anderson is, even her work. Same goes for Tommy Lee even though I dont listen to Motley Crue, the bend that made him famous. But even if you dont watch their movies or music, they were just so iconic, that the image of Pamela Anderson is still mentioned today in today's movies or talk shows, kind of like you talk about Marylin Monroe ( not comparing them at all, and we all weren't around when she was alive).....but in general.... I dont know.... It is Pamela Anderson after all...The point is... it is Ok not to bother your self with celebrities especially from an era when you were not born yet. Kinda like I dont care about Kardashian family. But you read news, the title comes up first so I know who she was married with and so on. Here they are trying to capture the time before Kardashian sex-tape era, where their tape was not leaked, not one klick away on the Internet, it was literally stolen from their home and she was a patient Zero in celebrity privacy intrusion. I havent seen the series yet, but I can assume the plot line aside from the sex tape... It can work in a way as a social commentary. But you being 20 years old...and probably follow Sebastian Stan from Marvel, is understandable that you might not find it interesting in finding out their back story. But for sure even if you just scroll down on the social media, one is almost sure to assume you at least heard about her... That's it.. All the best.

Just came straight right here after finishing the whole series. My. Gosh. Both of my fave actors are all in one screen. Casting so great. I was like still 5 on that Baywatch series, never knew how strong is Pamela Anderson to represent women who was victimized by extreme privacy violation. These project is an eye opener, yknow

Regardless, she hasn’t actually given a statement either way. It has also so far shown them as victims and humanised them a bit. It makes you root for their relationship. Regardless of how it turned out in real life, nothing in the show so far has shown these two negatively or different then how they have appeared in public.

Just watched Pamela, A Love Story, and her reaction over this show. But I could never get the empathy to Pam without this project being done. I think this show just want to defend Pam in every way they could. Not the justification part of the thief though.

This was made against Pamela Anderson's wishes. They are making money off her trauma disregarding the fact that she didn't want this series made. It's exploitative. Also they show Pam and Tommy's relationship as a great love story when in reality Pamela was assaulted and abused by Tommy. I'm sure the actors did an amazing job but I can't watch this with a good conscience.

@@seerpou it’s no different. They are presenting this around a stolen sex tape. A crime, and showing the impact it had on the world and its victims. It’s the same with true crime shows or movies based on true stories. It’s peoples lives and stories used to make money. There has been no actual statement from Pam herself, especially since the show has stared airing. You don’t know what her “wishes”. From what I’ve seen of the show it actually humanises her and makes you empathise with her and what happened. It shows you that it was a crime, it was an interment moment between two newlyweds that was exposed by a disgruntled employee. You feel for their lack of privacy and it shows Pam as someone who wanted more then to just be seen for her body. So far I think they have been telling the story and putting Pam in a very good light

@@seerpou It's relevant because true crime also exploits people and the families of the deceased and the people who did the killing, which I'm sure, is against people's wishes. Entertainment is exploitive in more cases than not, but I'd rather have actors like Sebastian and Lily who actually want to tell the story for the crime that it was than treat it like a joke

@Liam Kirwin from what I’ve seen so far, they have also been humanising these characters. We feel for them, I am only 23 and have no idea and don’t really care much for tommy Lee or Pamela Anderson in real life. But the characters in the show I feel for, I want them to be happy. This isn’t some celebrity trash story. I feel they give these two “icons” actual body.

But the filmmakers wanted to use Pam and Tommy's fame to promote this show and get a larger exposure which makes it exploitation by definition!

@@Rainbowfl0wer and changing character names and instead saying “inspired by” is any different? A lot of people know the story, regardless of the names used. Using the story and changing people names feels more explorative to me. There is no denying who they are or what happened. Whither it’s Bob and Amy instead of Pam and Tommy, using the story of the first real celebrity sex tap being stolen and released without their consent. It cheapens it to just “change their names”. This way they can be true to the story and actually bring a different side to it. You really start to feel for Pam especially during these episodes, the more truthful they can be to the story the better

Considering this isn’t a indie project, the actors playing these roles are very well known and have carried movies themselves. Pam and Tommy sure are still famous, but I doubt many in this generation are tuning in because of them.
