Justin I hope I still have the name right getting old you know LOL. A great video by you for sure and some great close ups. That operator is very experienced and sure knows how to operate that machine. You are so lucky and I mean that sincerely to be there and be able to show us Thanks for your effort and keep them coming when it is possible.

***** Haha, yes the name is correct! And yes this operator is very good. He has been running big shovels for about 15 years now

There are 4 smaller models pc 3000, on a coal site in S Wales in the uk, been there over 10 yrs now, still going strong.

scpd613 Thanks; glad you enjoyed it! Times have changed which has lead to me cut back on upload times. I too remember when I uploaded once to twice a week. There is just no way I could possibly keep up doing that anymore. But not to worry, there will always be new videos on my Channel!

On a coal site near to my house,they have 4 pc 3000 machines loading Cat 777 g trucks been there about 10 yrs now, they must be coming to the end if their working life soon.

arborist460 Actually no, this is a totally different machine. The PC4000 you saw in the "Hogging Clay" video is a newer Dash 6 machine. This unit is an older straight PC4000. Thanks!

Hi all. Firstly i would like to say what an amazing channel for Excavator finatics. Good work PA MINING, really enjoying these documentries. I am an engineer for Cummins HHP Daventry, England. (Great company to work for). I'm currently working in product development (Tier 4 products - QSK 38,50,60,78 etc). As a development engineer my knowledge is somewhat limited to production test rather than field test. (Intent on changing this very soon). Im curious of your opinions of the tier 2 product. How are they preforming in the field ? cost of ownership, preformance, maintence, reliability, productivity ? I am emigrating to Australia in September 2015 as i want to get up close with these machines in the field. If anyone has any comments/reliable information or contacts i would like to hear from you. Many thanks and kind regards.

WomackPhotoKCMO The two clam cylinders are located inside the back of the bull clam and are protected by back wall guarding.

memyselfand ifarmer Actually the coal bed is up against the bottom rock, near where the 4600 is parked. And sorry, but I do not give out equipment/mine locations and/or company information.

Would you consider getting a drone someday to film these operations? If you would start a kickstarter campaign or something to finance that I'm sure some of s would be really interested in that.

appu jacob Haha, you got that idea from seeing DDN'B's drone! I have never considered it because usually I can get great angles on equipment that I film on operations, but it would be something I'd be interested in looking into.

Could be mechanical problems, more important digging elsewhere, drivers didn't show up for work, other things. At the iron mine I worked at the mine dispatch system would often adjust the number of trucks to a shovel in ore to maintain the ore blend to the plant.

It's pretty simple. Knock out the pin. Pound off the old tooth. Slip the new one on the shank. Pound a new pin in. Used to be all hand work, but now they're so big that a boom truck is used for the lifting. The bigger job is changing a shank. Much larger and heavier. If the shovel is digging ore, it's very important that the truck drivers check after each load that all the teeth are still there. If not, at the iron mine I worked at the load was dumped and spread out to find the tooth so that it didn't wind up in the primary crusher. Teeth would almost go through the crusher, shanks wouldn't. It was a tough and very dangerous job to remove them from a stalled crusher.
