CORRECTION - PLEASE READ I wanted to correct something that I say in the video. I mention the exfoliation capabilities of the Altruist Moisturising Body Lotion and its ability to reduce pigmentation on the skin. This is incorrect. Urea, which is a great ingredient for the body does have the capability of exfoliation and pigmentation reduction, however, not at the level that features within this product. Urea has to be featured above 10% for have any exfoliation properties. At below 10% urea is incredibly hydrating and therefore can reduce dry crepey skin. I stand by this being an amazing formula that works, however if you require body exfoliation I recommend applying The Ordinary 7% Glycolic Acid before the Urea 6% Body Lotion. These are a powerhouse for the perfect body skin. I will do better next time. Sorry for the confusion xxx

Another thumbs up for Geek and Gorgeous. I use their Vit C, the aPad Retinal, the Hydration Station gel cream moisturiser and the Mighty Melt balm cleanser. I've also used the Happy Barrier cream when I accidentally took the aPad Retinal down my neck and it had a hissy fit - two applications did the trick. The only thing of theirs which I'm not keen on is the Jelly Joker cleanser, I'll use it up but wouldn't repurchase.

Here's a blast from the past, Gemma. I may not have told you this, but 5 years ago, I watched your video about how to properly use cleansing oil. You featured "Simple Hydrating Cleansing Oil" and demonstrated the proper way to use it. I bought it immediately and used it until it became hard to find, and cleansing balms took over. I just wanted to thank you as it was a game changer! Re THIS video, I appreciate how much great information you've shared as an aesthetician. Good skincare and protection make for a much better canvas for our makeup as well. XXOO ❤️ ❤️

Really fantastic video! I LOVE the tip to use a spray pumps for TO Glycolic acid. I’ve been using it on my body for a while but just tipping it into my hands and then distributing it. The spray is a great idea! I use 0.05% Tretinoin on my face and am thinking of dropping down to a less potent one for maintenance. I do tolerate the Tretinoin well but I’m not sure if I need it every night now so thought something like TO 0.2% might be a good maintenance alternative, although I am worried about reversing the results I’ve had from Tretinoin. Thank you for these affordable skin care alternatives. I do like a bargain! ❤

Just completed my regular order of Geek and Gorgeous 101 C-Glow. Ascorbic Acid at 15% plus ferulic acid and vit e. Love it, may be a good alternative for those not quite ready for a stronger concentration. I moved to that when Timeless 20% Vit C could not longer be sold in Europe. It works as well as that and is half the price. 😊. I also found one from Victoria Health which was also good - and affordable - but prefer G&G, can’t remember why 😅. Loved this video and enjoyed this little run of skin care videos immensely - there’s only so much make up I want to watch, unless we have some hacks to make application or choosing what to use better. I’d rather spend on the skin care, to be honest. Which is something I seem to do after most of your skincare videos. This time I’m considering swapping my Nuface out for a Ziip, but have had a word with myself and decided to wait until I’m consistent with what I’ve got before investing more! 😂

I wanted to emphasize that TO’s 0.2% retinal is stronger than I expected*. I accidentally used an eye product with traces of TO’s 0.2% on my fingers, my under eye did pretty well, but my upper eyelids will need weeks to return to a healthy state. It looks like I am sunburned and feels like it too. I would encourage washing your hands after using higher strengths of retinoids. *I am having no problems introducing the 0.02% on my face. I was using G&G A-Game 10 on my face, A-Game 5 on my neck, because it is more sensitive. I added just a tiny amount of TO’s 0.2% retinal into the A-Game 10 for my face only, the first weeks have gone well and I will slowly increase the amount. I take my time with increasing retinal because my mature, dry/dehydrated skin is made more sensitive by rosacea. Retinal has been easier to tolerate than retinol, at least for me.

Hi Gemma, I love Cosrx's vitamin C formula, but I bought the 13% one, because they have two presentations, one at 13% and another at 23%. And I use Avene's Retrynal and I really like it, it is also very gentle on the skin and I have never had irritation with that formula. Gemma, 6% urea acts only as a moisturizer, it would have to have urea at a higher concentration to be an exfoliant. A big hug from Chile 😘
@PamperedWolf
@PamperedWolf 2 ай бұрын
You’re totally right. Urea starts to exfoliate at 10%. The 6% is incredibly hydrating and with regular use can decrease crepey skin. I didn't make this clear within the video and I apologise. I have added a pinned comment to rectify my mistake. x

I find peptides confusing. How do the peptides Matrixyl compare to No7 for anti aging? Also do you suggest retinol/al etc for the body?

Copper peptides are fantastic but there are quite a few other products that won’t work with them and they either cancel them out of you will have a bad reaction.
@PamperedWolf
@PamperedWolf 2 ай бұрын
That’s not entirely correct. Theres no scientific evidence to suggest this ‘cancelling out’ but there is always the possibility of negative side effects x

Don't try to work it out, just start with retinal and when your skin is used to it, try tretinoin.

I am so disappointed that I can’t use retinol! My dermatologist gave me a script for trentinoin and it made my chin break out for months. I know about the retinol purge but this never stopped even after more than 3 months. I need to add some kind of anti aging product as my 63 year old face is starting to sag 😢

Try a retinol/retinoid that is less potent than tretanoin. Just because tret didn't suit you, it doesn't mean all retinoids are off the table :)

I’d maybe increase your usage to see if your skin can handle it with the intention of increasing the strength of your tretinoin to 0.05% and working your way to using that every other day. Hope that makes sense xxx

I have all of them and I’ve used and tested them all out as I ALWAYS do. In the last few videos it’s been an issue filming the b-roll shots of the products (it takes a while to get the bottles in focus especially if the bottle has a lot of white on it) so I chose to put images on the screen instead which is clearer for the viewer. I do show many of the products I talk about in this video, just not up close. Maybe you missed that? Hope that helps.

Would also appreciate knowing whether skincare products can be used in the eye area (particularly for actives). Thanks❤

My top tip with skin care: don't stop at your face,chest and the back of your hands, apply it to your arms. Especially in summer. So much sun damage on our arms ladies, get that skin smooth and glowing.
