We love you for sharing this…. I was 26 when Pan Am ended and miss working for them the few 3 years I was lucky to have experienced the world Pioneer in Aviation 👌🙏😃

I was Platinum Pam Am World Pass and Clipper Club. I miss flying them. So many wonderful memories flying through JFK WorldPort from LAX to Bermuda, London, Rome, Stockholm and Paris. Out of LAX to Sydney, Auckland and Honolulu. Domestic to New York, Miami, Orlando, San Francisco, Chicago, Boston and Washington. They will always be my favorite airline. You just felt special when you flew on Pan Am.

Danke für diese schöne aber auch traurige Erinnerung Katharina. Aber selbst heute nach „29“ Jahren treffen sich einige von uns „Ex PanAm“ immer noch. Dies beweist das es mehr als nur ein Job für uns alle war. Danke PanAm

Indeed....DELTA most likely would still be a domestic carrier had not been for PAN AM's demise....

Indeed. I still remember, in the summer of 1991, that I had to learn the Delta reservations system, so our paxs could be transferred to their DOM FLTs. An awful feeling....

Delta was already an international transatlantic Carrier since 1978. In 1990 before acquiring Pan Am‘s assets they flew internationally across the Atlantic and Pacific and were the third largest US transatlantic carrier behind Pan Am and TWA.

@@L1011Lover Delta's international flights were very small. No comparison. Was not aware of any Pacific flight and believe only Atlantic flights were to/from Lon. No matter, I blame Pan Am management, Delta took good advantage, as they say to day...My (our) bad!

Ralph Falconi not that small actually... before taking over the PAN AM transatlantic and intra-European routes DELTA already had established itself as the third largest US transatlantic carrier (after Pan Am and TWA). They served London (Gatwick), Paris (Orly), Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg, Amsterdam, Stuttgart, Shannon, Dublin, Manchester... Frankfurt for instance was served from four US hubs/gateways: ATL, CVG, DFW and MCO. Across the Pacific I’m quite sure they began flying their L1011-500s into Tokyo (Narita), Hong Kong, Bangkok and Nagoya in the late 1980s/early 1990s.
