Bake at 340 degrees
regular size -20 to 23 minutes
Family size- 35 to 38 minutes
1st rise 2 to 2 1/2 hours
2nd rise 45 minutes to 1 hr
*the second rise is highly important, don’t overdo it!
Ingredients
5 1/2 Cup Ap flour
5 large eggs (room temperature)
3/4 cups milk, warm (between 90 to 110 degrees max)
1/2 cup butter, room temperature
1/2 cup margarine, temperature
1/2 cup sugar + 3 Tbsp sugar, for yeast sponge
2 1/2 Tbsp yeast (active dry yeast)
1 tsp salt (Himalayan)
Zest of one orange or 2 cuties : )
1 Tbsp orange essence
1/2 Tbsp butter essence, optional
Optional Star anise
Extra melted butter & sugar for coating
FAQ? Why I used butter and margarine? I love the buttery flavor. Also, need the fatty oiliness that margarine provides, you know that little extra love. Shortening or lard give this recipe a different flavor. As always amigos, make it comfortable for your home 🥂
- Essence or extract will work for the recipe-
the extract is the natural product
the essence is the manufactured product
Tip- Remember you are making homemade baked goods and the ovens at your bakery are highly different. Enjoy the process and the baked goods amigos. Make sure the bones and tears you place on the top stick, other than that- You got this! 😘
