In my 8 years of studying the Filipino Martial Arts, I've dedicated myself towards specializing in Panantukan - the empty-handed fighting system of Kali. And to this day, it remains the most impressive and hard-hitting self-defense oriented martial art I've ever witnessed.
Finding an instructor in Panantukan is extremely hard, yet I've been fortunate enough to have been mentored by some of the best in the industry. For that reason, I wanted to share with you the most important techniques, drills, and concepts that I've learned from all my years of study and application.
With Panantukan Online - The Art of Weaponized Empty Hands, you'll be able to access the course material from anywhere in the world to share with your training partners and students. I guarantee that your skill sets will reach new levels, as did mine when I began my practice of this deadly and efficient art!

I think that often times, we get caught up in practicing the more elaborate techniques in the belief that ''More is better'' but sometimes that just isn't the case. This wonderful video shows that with the execution of the 'basics' is highly fundamental to achieving results, and that it can also be a pleasure practicing them. Bruce Lee allegedly stated that he was more fearful of fighting the man who ''Practiced not a thousand kicks one time, but the man who practiced one kick a thousand times''.

Very nice video. I think that the Filipinos have the most effective martial arts in the the world. I traveled many countries to study martial arts, as this was my dream. But these arts have something different. Their effectiveness is not in the techniques' arsenal or in the syllabus, like other martial arts but in the principle of moving and using every tool you have in the most effective way in real time without having to take decisions as all the the moves come natural. And they are open to combine them with every technique you want to incorporate into your personal style.

Ethnikaorify Georg I think you are totally right. The Filipinos have the best system because of their openness towards learning and adapting. They never become bogged down by tradition or fooled into mysticism as they constantly test their techniques against the best of the best. There is no other art which is as 'live' as Kali.

Yes, the Spaniards taught the Filipinos fencing. The Americans taught the Filipinos Western-style boxing. The Japanese taught the Filipinos judo and Jiu jitsu. And we, being the ultimate copycats that we are, have successfully used these techniques to fight off our enemies. Because a truly effective self-defence system is not found on one martial art alone but in the skillful use of the various martial arts in various situations.
@raymundbalce4550

@@davidquinningan8946 copy-cats? ?You mean ultimate innovators. No martial art is pure. Karate came from kung fu, jiu jitsu came from chinese grappling, kung fu came from kalaripayattu, muay boran came from indian and chinese infused martial arts(as rumors said to have originated from cambodia) , BJJ came from japanese JJ. If you think that you racialize filipinos as copy cats then we would have said the same to you and to all of these martial arts too. For your info FMA revolutionized boxing look it up the original boxing in queensbirry rules its different from what it is today. Sure the americans introduced boxing to the phills but that doesnt mean that filipinos dont have contribution to boxing. Americans borrowed our blocks and some of our strikes, the stance and the guard. So I gotta say to you who is a real copy cat? (None of course).this is basicallya question an ignorant person would ask.

The native style here in Thailand is Muay Thai. However, since I live in the North, the local style is called Daab Lanna (Lanna Sword) and Muay Jerng, which are very similar to Kung Fu and Silat respectively. My original style that I started with was Shaolin Kung Fu.

i come from a pure boxing background and i have a serious question will training in escrima/panantukan change what i already know from boxing footwork,punching technique,defense etr? in other words will i be able to use my boxing after a decade of training in a new art like panantukan or will this make me unlearn everything i knew from western boxing? because from what i heard some arts conflict each other
@SakanLam
@SakanLam Жыл бұрын
No you need to keep your boxing background as that is the fundamental basis of this system. It is a hybrid art. All you will need to adapt is the ability to bridge the gap or create distance to deploy your weapon after using your boxing. The skills build upon each other

@@SakanLam please explain more does panantukan have western boxing as a base and than it just adds alot of dirty stuff to it is that what it is? and if so is it ideal for a classic western boxer? some say that western boxing derived from panantukan i cant find much info about that though
@SakanLam
@SakanLam Жыл бұрын
@@figfydgfds4051 it starts with Kali empty hands, originally called Mano Mano. It has similar motions to swinging a stick or slashing with a knife and was mostly hammer fists, elbows and open palms to prevent breaking of the hands. The Panantukan hybrid system added Western boxing along with Silat entries, sweeps, and takedowns. This is more of a complete system that allows for more competitiveness with other combat sports. However the goal is to always support weapons. Question is, did Panantukan influence Western Boxing? I don't believe that is the case.

@@SakanLam thanks for your reply i appreciate it what about you do you have experience in western boxing? And would you pick escrima over boxing? The thing i dont understand is i see in panatukan there are alot of grabbing limb destruction and stuff like that but in fact all that is required to take a guy down is one solid punch to the chin so why bother breaking the guys weapons when you can go for the quickest route which is the knockout is there a reason?
@SakanLam
@SakanLam Жыл бұрын
@@figfydgfds4051 I've trained in boxing and muay thai, but never had any fights in those. Only competed in amateur MMA and full-contact. I would not pick one over the other, as they are both valuable to me. Self-defense requires a different mindset and the combat sports mentality is useful but could get you in trouble. Yes you can KO a person with one shot, but sometimes you don't have that option, especially if there are multiple opponents or weapons are involved. Panantukan has the guerilla warfare mindset... which is different from the dueling, one-on-one streetboxing mentality.

First time I asked what panan tukan was because it was the name of a chicken house in sagada, they asked if I want some panan tukan i said yes because I thought they were going to teach me something they then took me behind the house where the chicken pen was took a stick and beat the chicken with the stick then it died and they put it in hot water and started pulling out the feathers and cleaning it and made a dish which they claimed was panan tukan adobo..

What differentiates this system from others is the footwork, angles, entries, guntings, deployment of weapons, dumog, and dirty tactics. All of which will be covered in the intermediate course.
