I've experimented with dummy batteries and was disappointed with the GH6 battery door too. One thing I found very useful when running a v-mount battery rig is getting a v-mount adapter plate that outputs 9V/3A USB. Adding a short 8" USB-C cable not only powers the GH6 but also allows for hot swapping the v-mount battery because the internal GH6 battery kicks in. You could also deplete the v-mount and continue to run the internal battery to finish the shoot. Unless you need to use an SSD (which you mention in the replies that you don't anymore), USB power (v-mount or wall) would be the most efficient external power setup considering the internal battery as a safety power source.

The little slot on the side requires that the battery compartment is close enough to the edge of the camera to switch to rubber. With the GH6, that is at the curve of the grip, so stopping the camera casing to switch to rubber makes it significantly weaker at that point. It is a fairly common place where the camera may get banged around, increasing the chance of the camera chipping. Having the cord pass through the door introduces minimal structural weakness. If we're being paid to record video for a long enough time that the AC power is useful, it seems odd to call $60 "expensive". It's about the price of one GH6 battery.

Thats the wrong Panasonic power adaptor it outputs only 1.2A. You need the adaptor that outputs 2.5 amps

Yes! I have the AC-10 power supply, and it's 2.5A.

The reason for the battery cover hole size is that it was designed for your own product, which you show, one possible solution can be: to find a D-tap adapter can fits with the original Panasonic plug cable, and that will be fine.

Would the converter to DTAP cable that came with your thirdparty dummy battery work with the official pansonic dummy battery so that you can power it from v mount?

Did anyone used usb c to dual usb c splitter and use both ssd and power via that.....i mean USB c should support power and data same time .

I had the same concerns because I wanted to shoot directly to SSD too and power via Dtap. Many cables are directly to Dtap so I don’t understand why the design change for the “mouse door.”

Yup, I hope they go back to the side slot for the cable like the GH5. How's your FF camera? Are those like the GH6 too?

Unfortunately, the dummy battery you recommend is no longer available on Amazon. Kondor Blue makes one that is a little bit pricey but it is available through B & H or through the Kondor Blue web site. I do have a question though, with the dummy battery were there any functions, frame rates or codecs that were unavailable?

I did not test every frame rate and codec, so I am not sure if they work or not with the dummy battery. But I had no issue with 24p and 30p at their 4K MOV 150Mb/s codecs or lower. There was nothing greyed out, so I assume everything works with the dummy battery.

Why isn't there a simple solution for this? There's an adapter for the GH5S. Why can't they make one for the GH6 with no hiccups?

No, I didn't figure this out, so I just stick with USB-C power and don't use the SSD anymore. I also upgraded to full frame cameras, so I'm nearing the end of my micro 4/3rds systems.
