Really great comparison video! I have the 4k, and have pre-ordered the Gh6.... Why? Simple... these two cameras do not compete with one another... but compliment one another. GH6 for run and gun situations where image stabilization is important, and the 120FPS 4k (and up to 300fps 1080). The 4k for the amazing feature set for such as low price, xlr audio, amazing raw codec, and TWO licenses of Davinci Resolve Studio! They are perfect compliments because they both have the M4/3 mount! Use the same speed boosters! And when Panasonic updates the firmware, both be able to record to SSD. Imagewise these cameras will easily be matched in post. These two together are about the same price as a single A7SIII, and you have an A and B camera with a combined feature set that pretty much smash what you get with other solutions.

I'm doing run&gun and need the IBIS more than the best AF and I also switch a lot between stills and video. After 5 years with the GH5, the GH6 is a no-brainer for me. I ordered it today.

I'm a GH5 and GH5S user... I got my money on the Pocket 4k... 13 stops dynamic range at all ISO's is why. Plus Braw plus DAVINCI RESOLVE had the highlight recovery feature specifically for Braw.

Thanks for this vidéo. I am myself 2 BMPCC4k,GH4,2 Gh5,5s Shooter...doing mostly Multicam video of classical concert (I am mostly classical musician an Audio ingénieur so Video ist an add to 24 CH96khz Orchestra recording...)and I am trying some classical music clip vidéo. I find Panasonic more easy convininent. Because of the low cost of the m43 lens except your Leica 10-25 an 25-50 which is a great lens but not for every pocket certainly not mine... So I am searching my A cam and my question is if I need to go FF or S35 way BMPCC6k or stay M43 I shoot mostly f3-6 so m43 is great for me and I don't search shallow dept of field on the contrary...most of the orchestra need to be in focus...and I found even some cinema lens Meike T2.2 to work fine on fixed cameras. Gh5,are small and you don't notice it so much on stage...that s a plus for me When riged my BMPCC4K look like Frankenstein...definitely not to put it on stage... Bravo for the video I am a big fan probably whatcha all your videos...

I want the 4k but I’m afraid my footage may come out shaky unless I rig out which adds weight which will help negate the shakiness. Also I think I trust the reliability of Lumix vs blackmagic. I also like that the Lumix is good to -10C. With the gh6 price point though I’m better off getting the s5. I hate buying a camera.

You are right about weather sealing its a very important feature for many, the Image of the 4k is great however =)

Better off getting the S5? As the saying goes, "date the body but marry the glass." The S5 and a competent selection of L-mount glass isn't going to be inexpensive. I would expect the $300 difference in camera body price is going to be lost in comparison to the difference between your overall lens budget if you buy into the L-mount alliance vs. MFT.

I will take the Panasonic GH5 anytime, any day over the BlackMagic, GH6 is much more ahead. Practicality is everything.

There is absolutely no battle becasue they both cater to different things. The BMPCC 4K is designed intrinsically for film. You need to kit it up as you would an Arri and get it to deliver according to it's compound strength. If you place an Arri Amira next to the Panasonic GH6, the same scores will possibly come to being based on the anomalies you chose, but they are inherited based on their performance structure and credentials too. Let every operator choose a camera which is specific to his/her requirements and shooting genre...

In many respects, the GH6 actually sits between the Pocket 4k and the Pocket 6k Pro given its 5.7k ProRes and $2199US price.

Hi I don't agree with the comparison at all especially the point system you used to grade each camera. You make it seem as if the BMPCC4K is not that far off the GH6 but it is. The GH6 is a far better camera and you should have compared it to the BMPCC6K Pro. The BMPCC4K is closer to the GH5 and GH5S.

I have to agree here... you can buy an external 4 channel audio recorder for the 4k and say it ties in audio channels... but that's cheating.. LOL Without a doubt BMPCC4k wins for internal recording. And even though the GH6 offers ProRes, the file sizes are larger than that of BMRaw... not to mention you can record compressed versions that will record just fine on an SDCard... and edit silky smooth on most systems.

I used the GH5 for many things and owe a lot of my experience to it and still have it. After purchasing the BMPCC4k, it was on a whole other level. 12 bit color, BRAW workflow, gamma curve, false color, etc. I’ve filmed two films with it and it’s still a LOT of camera that I haven’t seen the need to upgrade. When the GH6 came out I wasn’t impressed to be honest. More resolution isn’t really going to improve anything or make anyone a better filmmaker. BMPCC4k is really hard to beat both in price and specs. At first glance the IBIS maybe attractive to newbies but if you’re a filmmaker( who actually does film, not KZfaq videos) that IBIS isn’t a good actually, hence why the GH5S came out without. I really wanted to like the GH6 but I’ve matured beyond the marketing and image resolution and see my equipment as tools to tell stories. BMPCC4k is a force to be reckoned with.

@@genaopictures6578 In a perfect world, I'd take a full frame BMPCC6k Pro that shoots BRaw, with the auto focus of Sony A7SIII, the IBIS of the GH6. Oh and it would be less than $3000 and had interchangable lens mounting plates so I could use any and all full frame glass. It's all about tools and quality. For me, the GH6 doesn't compare with the BMPCC4K... it compliments it... bringing tools the 4K doesn't which expands my creative and marketable capabilities. Is it a leapfrog sensational camera? Not even close. But does it's comparability with my 4K lenses/speedbooster kit, soon to come SSD recording, 4K 120 4:2:0 10 bit, solid IBIS, and a "usable" autofccus assist...( I would not call it a dependable continuous autoocus for video.) All for $2200? Yes please.

I still have my GH5 for vacation trips and even some photography on the side which is really good btw. But since I mostly due films, the 4k is a better tool for me. Glad you made a purchase with a decision that’ll help you creatively. That’s how it ought to be. Enjoy your camera!

Image qulity is very subjetive, and you will be able to shoot in RAW on the GH6 soon aswell so thats why I gave them both a 10, however I also gave the pocket 4k a win in the internal raw category =)

The gh6 is fine, but that IBIS is just a no go. Remove that and it'd be a consideration. Also, the bmpcc4k does have auto focus and it's very good. I feel like this is a comparison between the arri alexa and a handicam. One is a serious camera for narrative filmmaking, the other is a camera for casual shooting. Edit: The battery is AMAZING on the 4k as well. I'm not used to having 20-30 minutes to change a battery. It's usually seconds, not minutes.

Two different cameras for different purposes. IBIS is great for run and gun video work, try walking without a gimbal with the pocket. Bmpcc4k doesn't have autofocus tracking, meaning it can't detect faces. Alot of videographers use GH cameras/Sony's/canons for other jobs besides shooting shortfilms. Bmpcc4k has great IQ but the GH6 is more versatile and has better specs/frame rates. Battery sucks on the Bmpcc4k, you have to rig it up with Npf or v-mount for all day shooting. Again, different tools for different jobs. Arri Alexa/Red cameras are different beasts with 14 real stops of dynamic range, the GH6 or the Bmpcc4k doesn't stand a chance.

@@roscosart1888 absolutely! The battery on the bmpcc4k is AMAZING! I'm still stoked to have minutes to change batteries instead of seconds. The form factor is also better making handheld look fantastic on the 4k as well as simply being more accurate. The gh6 is far from a bad camera, it's just nothing what I or my company could work with. The only shortcoming the 4k has is no sdi, which the gh4 has. Still, having raw is more important to us over the 10bit. Whatever the case, your point is absolutely correct. Get the camera that suits your needs best. Nothing is perfect, but you can get close.
