Watched almost most of the famous KZfaqrs who made a video about GH6; however, this video is something else. I truly appriciate all the poits were covered in this video and it answered all the important questions that a professional videographer would have in mind. Also there is one big question that I think is missed, how much dynamic range would change if DR boost in on, but you are not shooting on Vlog?

Is it bad that I have no intention of using high frame rates? I just want to use my Leica 10-25mm with 5.7k and full V-LOG. I know I can get some absolutely insane footage with that.

On paper everything looks great, the sample footage here just looks like "video." Hope to see some more well lit samples to better gauge this camera.

Is it just me or does the overall image quality look better on the GH6 compared to the GH5. I always thought the 5 looked somewhat flat and bland (unless the conditions were perfect). The GH6 seems to have better color and contrast. Am I imagining that or just trying to convince myself to buy a new camera body?

I appreciate all the tests with Anamorphic/Open Gate modes. I shot my last project on the GH5's open gate settings and the ability to reframe things is a gamechanger.

I really wish the GH6 was *Full Frame...* I don't feel like the 6 is quite as "revolutionary" as any of its predecessors. Seems to be playing "keep up" instead of pushing boundaries. Overall, it seems like a lot of fun and I'm still not sure whether my next upgrade will be the GH6, Z9 or something else...

Very interesting video! Well made! Why that Ping-Ping-Ping-Music? For me as a non-native-english-speaker sometimes it is hard to understand what you're exactly saying... Without that "Music" it would be easier to understand YOU.

Awesome camera 📸 BUT i’m sticking with my GH5M2 not enough upgrades when my GH5M2 cost $2100 AUD & the GH6 is $3700 AUD 😳 I’ll wait to see if firmware updates improve the GH6 or wait until the GH7, 8, 9 or 10 gets rid of pulsating l. What good is all these awesome levels of high quality filming capabilities when you can’t use the footage!

Exactly. Panasonic said they had this camera in development prior to the launch of the GH5 so that is why they stayed with DFD autofocus. At the same time you got to know when to walk away and just accept that PDAF is just way better and Panasonic should have done that.

@@mnkwazi Exactly, I call bullshit, its like they were keeping their eyes closed while their competitors were building a house around them. What could have been an "amazing" hybrid is now just okay because of crappy AF.

@@whiterock1865 The funny thing with cameras is there often seems to major strengths with them and a pitfall. Canon has amazing autofocus but dreadful stabilization. Sony awesome in many categories but well known for overheating.

The only reason that could prevent me from buying is the HDR bracketing settings called AEB. The GH4 shot brackets of 3,5, and 7 in increments of 1 EV or smaller. It needs to have steps of at least 2 EV for real estate. Could you tell me if the GH6 has AEB 5 @ 2EV??

I know, it's a pain. I've been shooting AEB with Panasonic GH4 and G9 for the past 4 years for real estate. I have to capture 5 images at 1 EV increments even though we only need three of them to create the HDR image. I wish Panasonic would offer increments of 2EV. It works just as well as 3 shots at 2EV increments, but it's just a waste of clicks and storage space.

Hey B&H can you shoot extended video- 8-10 hrs straight recording onto an Atmos, without the camera overheating?

While the camera can record externally to an Atomos, recoding for that long of a period of time always runs the risk of over heating. Wether you're recording internally or to an Atomos.

I just got my GH6. I can't shoot photo RAW files. When I look at them in camera on the GH6 screen I can view them but when I copy them to any external hard drive and try to open them in any software that can process RAW photo files, I get a bright color solid or 60s style abstract image. I have not been able to find any help online or at Panasonic. What am I missing? Do I have to send the camera back? Thank you for directing me somewhere where I can get some help to resolve this.

Not compatible yet in most softwares. Use silkypix, its the only one that supports the gh6 .rw2 files yet

im starting to think we dont need these cameras with 6k or 8k which just looks like video if you want a camera that look like film you have to spend the money unless you are a good post production editor

I'm personally hoping we start seeing a shift away from higher resolution, and towards higher dynamic range. No dual-ISO shenanigans with frame rate limitations.

Hi Doug. I just got my GH6 in the mail today from BH. I am already running into a snag. I wanted ask you a question that I can't find the answer anywhere from anybody online. I use a PC. My GH5 was able to shoot everything in MP4 400Mbps intra now problem.. Now with my gh6 when mp4 is selected and I get only a hand full of lower quality choices. 420 and lower bit rate options. When I switch to .mov I see all the high rez 422 10 bit. That is a bummer for me as I use a PC. Can you tell me. Is this so. I have to use .mov? Please let me know. Tom

According to the user's guide for the GH6, shooting in MP4 format would only allow for 4:2:0 8 bit or 4:2:0 10 bit while shooting in MOV format will give you 4:2:2 10 bit in Long GOP or All-Intra. They go on to state that MP4 would be better for playback on a PC while MOV format would be better for editing.

@@BandH Ok Thank you for getting back to me. Very good of you and BH. I've asked others and looked into it more. On Gh5 it was not like that as you may know. But that being said on Lumix Live many chimed in and said that .mov plays just fine on there PC so perhaps it won't be an issue. I'm be testing over the next few days.

@@henrygarcia1087 Thanks Henry. I figured it out. I was surprissed to see Mp4 so little codecs. .MOV is working well. I always thought I could not use .mov because of I us PC. All is well and loving my GH6 again.

With respect, internal ProRes is sort of a joke if you need to use CF Express type-b cards. I mean you'd spend 3x as much as the camera just on media.

@@martysender5539 - I'm wondering if they'll make it a firmware upgrade. It sucks that if you planned on doing any live-streaming that the GH6 is disqualified making the GH5 M2 your only option.

The Wi-Fi function in the Lumix GH6 would not allow for live streaming. That can be done via HDMI and the appropriate capture device. >Mark

Panasonic is so frustrating. They're already _so close_ to making my perfect camera, but the autofocus is basically unusable. I'm a one-man show and pulling focus myself on certain shots is, for all intents and purposes, impossible.

amazing camera. but the elephant in the room? AF? you did not really let us know. what good are 50 codecs if the image is out of focus? please go do real world tests.

The AF, as highlighted in our video,seems pretty impressive. More specs: Focus Type: Auto and Manual Focus Focus Mode: Automatic, Continuous-Servo AF, Focus Lock AF Area Mode, Manual Focus, Single-Servo AF, Touch AF & Shutter Autofocus Points: Photo, Video : Contrast Detection: 315 Autofocus Sensitivity: -4 to +18 EV >Mark

@@BandH ah sure right. You need to SELL the camera. so you are not unbiased. the AUTO FOCUS sucks....pulses like my gh5. you cannot gloss over a FACT. I love my gh5, and am a LUMIX fan. however, the fact they failed to replace contrast AF shows they really don't care about the customer. BH, I'm sorry but you just cannot explain it away with this. good luck

@@WildfoxFabrication sir, half bad, half good for $2200. AF should be 100%. I must say the gh6 is "defective" in design. It's been purposively crippled. 50 codec and App Pro Res don't matter if the camera won't focus reliably. YOu have a 40 day return policy. I'll bet you get a LOT of returns.

Yeah, sorry, this is totally a fan boy promotional video intended to sell cameras you have in stock and ready to ship. I'm sure that one group will love it - professional videographers already invested in the Panasonic ecosystem who don't need or use autofocus. All others will be quite disappointed in a camera that can't focus as well as a smartphone.
