No EVF. Same colours and ergonomics as a child's play brick. Small (not really that small) camera that will need feeding with large, full frame lenses. Released with a ridiculous, but small, lens that will fool buyers who don't know what they are buying. Aimed at smart phone users but without any computational features... and I was a Panasonic fanboy. The Fuji fanboys must be wetting themselves

Bit of an odd camera this one. I'd be more on board with it if it was cheaper, but the lack of weather sealing in particular is a bit frustrating considering it's not _that_ much cheaper than the S5II. I do like the size though. The electronic-shutter only aspect worries me for photos, just because that mode on the S5II isn't particularly great due to the sensor speed (picks up a lot of LED banding in my experience). Lack of viewfinder doesn't bother me, but the cold-shoe is a bit of a bizarre choice and means you can't use the XLR adapter on it, which is a shame. I'll be curious to see how it does in terms of sales though - it looks cute and that probably counts for a lot 😅
@castielvargastv7931

Why you say that? Its the samw kind of camera as sony a7c just with better video specs and no one complains about the sony. I dont use mechanical shutter with any of my cameras and a unstable shity viewfinder like the sony has is not better than not having a viewfinder at all. Sony zv1 has no viewfinder, no mechanical s as well and no one complained
@robert_may
@robert_may 24 күн бұрын
I mean, the A7C was released 4 years ago, so it being the point of comparison isn’t great for the S9. It has a mechanical shutter, which alleviates most issues caused by the slower sensors like LED banding, a hot shoe, and reasonable recording time limits. The ZV-1 isn’t really a competitor so I assume you mean the ZV-E1, which although more expensive does then also give you good internal mics and again much better recording limits. If Panasonic had implemented vaguely reasonable cooling measures into the S9 it’d at least be more competitive for video, but it does at least have better stabilisation. The main complaints about the S9 are really that it’s just far too expensive for how much you lose from the S5II. If you’re a content creator then the S5II is worth the extra money, and if you’re after a compact travel camera then there are better options from Fujifilm without the downsides of the S9.

@@robert_may everything you say is relative and means nothing to me. I dont use mechanical shutter with any of my cameras as i am a led user no Problems here. I dont care about record limits, i never reach 15 minutes. Not even on a Professional film set we had longer takes than 15 minutes. I dont care about a 4k crop. Everything you say are pseudo arguments that only count in certain scenarios for certain users. For what i do the lumix is a perfect b or c camera but most of all it is a fun camera. No fuji can give me what i get from s9 as.it has a shity apsc sensor and i dont want that. I want 6k , open gate, perfect ibis, great Image quality, small size and a full frame sensor. How many cameras at this price can do this?zero! No sony, no canon , no fuji can do this for this kind of money. So why you call the camera too expensive.if there is no other camera that can match the specs?

It would be great if the extra zoom function would come to the S5ii ! It seems that the S9 and S5ii have the same hardware so a firmware update seems technically possible.

Will the limitations put on the camera because of the FF sensor and compact size, I don't know why Panasonic not use the m4/3 sensor? Low light is no longer an argument since they took out the mechanical shutter.

This is the weirdest release I've seen in years. So many limitations for such a price is insane. Also, being full frame you'll be carrying heavy glass, defeating the minor benefit of its small size. This should have been an $800 M4/3. I have no idea what Panasonic is thinking with this one.
@PPLRRN
@PPLRRN 5 күн бұрын
Give us a chance. We want a small full frame. I'm done with apsc and mft. I'm not even sure why they are still making those if making small full frames is possible. Just focus all resources in ff to save cost. Smaller body is the first step, smaller lenses next. For the price, I could not find a camera with all these features in a small body thats cheaper.
@misterwhyte
@misterwhyte 5 күн бұрын
@@PPLRRN The S9 body is only about 250 grams less than the S5II, that has far more features for the same price. Do 250 grams really that important to you that it justifies the loss of important features? If FF glass ever gets smaller, it will also get smaller for other cameras. Besides, if you're really worried about weight and space, get a fixed-lens camera. It'll be cheaper, lighter, smaller and far easier to carry around. Getting a body and multiple lenses is never the option whenever space and ease of carry is the main goal. Really, the S9 is a waste of money.
@PPLRRN
@PPLRRN 4 күн бұрын
@misterwhyte for me, I can carry this around more often than its bigger siblings. If I need those features for PRO work, then I can put a handle via a cage for a grip, a field monitor to substitute for the lack of EVF, an external mic with zero latency monitoring for the lack of headphones, and light my subject with LED lights from different angles. Light straight on from a hotshoe doesnt look professional. I'd also do external recording. It can be a PRO if I want it to, and just be a casual camera if I need to. So, are those dealbreakers for me. Not really. And to give you an idea why I badly want this camera. The A7C2, A7CR, S5ii, and even the ZVE1 all cost above Php145K with a kit lens, while the S9 only costs around Php105K with a 20-60 kit lens. Also, I never buy used items. I dont like fixed lens and I'm tired of mft and apsc. I had the EM5 and XT30. Both are retro and tiny cameras. Smaller lenses will be released soon, thats why I'm waiting until December.

It's just like the G100 (at least it has IBIS), it would have been better just marketed as a photo centric camera instead of an "influencer/creator" camera. I got a G100 for like 230 bucks, barely used body only as more of a test than anything to see if I'd be ok without IBIS... I was ok, but I definitely missed it since I use primarily manual focus lenses on my smaller MFT bodies like the TTArt 25mm f2 and others. Even my old E-P5 was easier to magnify and focus with, because the IBIS kept the zoom in from shaking. Other than that, I've been bringing a Sigma fp L as my side body for work for over a year now and have had zero issues with e-shutter only (I don't shoot much in motion, and in rural villages artificial lighting isn't that big of a deal, if it is, I can sync the shutter speed with the frequency of the light/power source, and it generally goes away). Then again, if I can get away with it, I've prefered to shoot e-shutter on all cameras for years now. I have the EVF for the fp L, but generally I don't have it attached because the point is it's a small side body with the compact Sigma lenses (half or more APS-C that I have for my Leica CL, even the rest are generally shot in APS-C mode that still gets me around 25-26 mp so it's great). I'll probably pick up an S9 when I can find a used one for a steal. I shoot zero video and the rest of the "issues" aren't really a factor for me because I already shoot with fp and fp L's for my FF bodies (and this is basically a better fp for my use case aside from a worse firmware... Sigma firmware is hard to beat in terms of UI, IMO). My main body is an OM-5 at this point after my E-M5.III I got at release met its death after flying into a river. The OM-5 + Oly 75mm f1.8 is perfect for what I need reach and size wise. I'm willing to give the S9 a shot as a side body with a 45mm f2.8 or something on it if I can find it cheap enough. Otherwise, I'll just stick with the fp L or my Pen F + 15mm f1.7 Panaleica or 20mm f1.4 OM-Sys lenses as my side body for wider shots.

Im a graphic designer who now is shooting a lot of vertical stuff. This camera and the 18-40 would be perfect for what I do. But only because of the stabilisation, the open gate doesn't interest me as I've never been asked to repurpose clips for KZfaq. The only thing that worries me is how I would switch from photo to video. I have 3 settings in both on my Sony and I can't see how Id do that on the S9.
