Hi Folks,
Here's a cool Panasonic Boombox. It was in fair condition, but needed a decent clean. More than that though, the tape deck was not functioning correctly.
Join me as I evaluate the unit, open it up to show the insides - plus service the cassette deck, including replacing both belts.

Good Box these, i have one, wanted one for years. So a friend gave me a Rx5500 and £150 for my Crown CsC980, i also have a Rx5250. another Nice Box.. I have my Boombox collection on my channel. i have Quite a Few Boxes.

Great channel. We almost do not have service in Argentina, may be half a dozen for a huge country, so we are alone by our own capacities or just recycle them. I did services from the late 50´s so I have seen a lot since the birth of transistors. Cheers from Patagonia.

Thanks for watching. And welcome from the UK! There aren't too many people about now anywhere - but you must really have to patch them up yourself then with so few repair shops. A dying trade now. A real shame - but cassettes are making a comeback here 👍

Panasonic do make great boomboxes i have a tiny little rx 20l . needs belts and most likely caps and some restauration .

Yes, I have certainly been impressed by the 5025, 5030 and 5500 I've had in. I also have a couple of RX1450 units I need to sort (trying to find speakers at the moment).

That model is built like a tank. Very heavy for its size.

Yep. About 16lbs or something. I actually posted it today. 20lbs including packaging. Great machine!

If the Hitachi 8190s are all pre sold, at least do a rack walk through pointing out the favs' also the parts bin, need some parts for two boomboxes I have...

I have another 8190, so I might sort that whilst I'm doing the one that just came in. A walkthrough would be cool to do. The shop is a mess at the moment though - I might wait until it's tidier 😂

Thanks for watching as always 👍It depends on the state of it. Usually just some window/glass cleaner. Occasionally top dress it with vinyl treatment. T-cut is a great first step if it has fine scuffs & scratches.
