He has a passion for simple things in life: the transfer of liquids from a large container to a small container, a nice community breakfast, early twentieth century songbooks, dog names, nature hikes, a good storm, the VFW, Knights of Columbus, barns in central New York, etc.Being a Midwesterner myself I would enjoy talking with him about the great freighters on the Great Lakes with an emphasis on the Edmund Fitzgerald, and obscure battles of the American Civil War.
