There are many things that make a man great. Heroism. Bravery. Strength. Reputation. But above all, there is one thing that sets them apart from the unknown. Something that pushes even them to attain all these things that cause men to envy and women to weep. Something that leads them ever onward in their quest, be that quest for glory, revenge, riches, or love. Purpose. But what is purpose, you ask? It is a binding, freeing thing that all great men must yearn for. It is the one thing necessary for a man to find himself recorded in the annals of history, and it always carries a high price. It binds us to a life of hardship and sorrow, all but guaranteeing that you will suffer for its existence. You will sacrifice for it. You will beg on its behalf. You will hurt for it. You will weep for it. You will wish to shirk it, to live a life unknown to those around you. You will hate it, you will despise it, and yet, you will crave it. You see, purpose frees a man from the chains that weigh down the unseen man. Purpose frees us from the chaos of wandering souls, the wiles of the cunning or the plans of the divine. A man with purpose is free knowing that, by his choosing, he lays down his life for a cause greater than himself. He knows that all men must die, and so he charges into the Pit of Doom fearful, angry, full of sorrow, but complete in his knowing that, at his passing, the world will notice. Whether a farmer, a soldier, a doctor, a washman, a mason, a king, or a beggar... Each of these can find purpose in life. With that purpose, each is worthy of all the greatness he aspires for. There are many things that make a man great. Heroism. Bravery. Strength. Reputation. But above all, a sad truth is that purpose is necessary to lead all men to greatness. To truly live a life worth speaking of is to find a purpose, however great or small. None is too insignificant to impact the world in a great way, and those that walk this path choose their future for themselves. They choose a future of comfort and pain. They choose joy and sorrow. They choose delight and regret. They choose honor and betrayal. This is the sorrow of the great man. He chooses to be Bound by Purpose.

He fought. Not through waves of soldiers, nor waves of pain or heartbreak, but waves of himself. He fought through what seemed impossible. He fought against himself to save himself. He fought for his future, for himself. To him, it seemed a task that was nothing short of impossible. A task given to him that he knew he could never complete. Yet he still fought to the end. He fought to the end of himself to save... what? He could never save himself, never in an infinite number of universes. He was bound to a fight he could never finish, that he could never win. "Why fight?" He asked himself. He'd asked this question a thousand times and at last, he found the answer. "I fight myself because I have to. Every day is a struggle, every day gets harder and harder to push on. I am fighting an uphill battle that I cannot win, but at least I have a purpose." This man can be seen in many people. Everyone struggles with their own fights and arguments with themselves. Everyone continues to fight, continues to push through. Why? Because they have a purpose. They are bound by this purpose. Never forget that. You have meaning, and you can win.

The weight of the rubble pressed down on me. This was it, I felt it. I scanned the battle and helplessly watched as my friends... my allies slowly succumbed to our enemy. A figure quietly approached through the smoke. "Get up!" A heavy voice carried through the smoke. I couldn't make out who they were and their voice I didn't recognize. "You're not done yet. You got one more fight left in you," they said as they reached out to help me up. "Who are you?" I weakly managed to muster as I squinted to get a better look at them. "It doesn't matter." They motioned toward my friends, "they need your help. Do what you were destined for." I still couldn't make out their face. Maybe it was the smoke, or maybe my vision was blurred. I wiped the blood from my face with my shirt in the hope it would help. They were gone when I removed my shirt. "They need you. They are all that matters," the voice of the stranger echoed from some distance. I was confused and still a bit dazed. I felt as though I could trust the voice. This was it. This is what we fought back for. If we didn't win, it would all be over. I closed my eyes to gather my strength and charged back into battle. I wasn't going to lose this fight.

This ... goes beyond Epic music. I'd go so far as to call this Legendary.

Despite the snow and the exhaustion, the wolf made every possible effort to keep going. He was suffering from the relentless wind, the biting cold, the starvation and the frightening darkness... Days passed, but there was no trace of food or footsteps. He was completely alone... However, none of them stopped him. The responsibility of his herd was on his shoulders and no matter how hard his struggle was, he had to reach the end. He was Bound by Purpose. Weak, but with the heart of a warrior, he suddenly saw a beam of light in the distance... Hope was reborn!

He stands up then, rising with legs he never knew he had. He stares off into the abyss around him, legs shaking, arms aching. He's free. Broken from his bounds. He's free, and yet he stands, the fog swirling around him. He's free, but what now? What now? He turns, facing them, staring at them. And they stare back, eyes like his own, unsure. And then he realizes, they are the same, heart and mind. They are free, and yet they are bound. Bound to wander this faceless world with no intent or need. No purpose. Yet somehow, they found him. Released him. And in their eyes, he finds it, gleaming and shining, purpose. And for the first time, the boy smiles. And so they walk, wandering into the darkness ahead, knowing nothing by each other. And once again he is bound, bound not by chains or locks, love or hate, freedom or confinement. He is bound to them. He is bound by purpose.

I feel like the wolf, keeping upright and straight, in the face of the storm called life, always without giving up, enduring every blow and moving forward.

Love is power... True strength comes from unconditional love, that Christ like love that makes even weak men courageous, seeking wisdom, and righteousness. Purity of heart comes from loving wholeheartedly, and having integrity... Love comes from growing attached, and a connection and bond steadily increasing over time... And can be felt from very, very far distances in the hearts of soul mates.

Black. Why is it so black? Why I cannot see? I feel coldness pinching at my skin. Snow. That's all I see when I open my eyes. I cannot stop walking in the endless breeze. I feel something tugging at my heart strings, it wont let me go. I am bound to it with chains of time. It wont let me be free, dragging me, calling me. Endless abyss of promises is drowning me. Yet, I don't slow down. Don't stop. I feel the strings tug harder. There is something calling me, awaiting me. I must go on. The days went on, but I was still chained to that feeling. Finally it stopped. Looking around I spotted the chains of my purpose leading to nothing. I followed it and came to face my purpose. There were trees and grass. I smelt freedom, I longed it. Tugging at my chains, I snarled baring my fangs. I wanted to go, I wanted freedom. I wont be allowed to be kept by the bounds of purpose. I tugged and growled and finally the chains broke into pieces. Bursting into sparks they disappeared. Looking back at the forest, I dashed into a run. I felt, the purpose was gone. The freedom I longed for so long has been granted. The spell has been broken into endless summer of life.

Loaded up Shadow of Mordor, stopped the in game music and started this instead. I was facing 4 Captains and a warchief with this playing in the background you can't lose the battle.

Or, who she not was… The dark forces had tortured her for days, in order to find out anything regarding the others. But she had told nothing, she never would. The sound of a key opening the cell and releasing her from the chains was a heavenly one. But at the same time, she was angry at them. Not because she hated them, but because they came and put themselves into the danger. She was used to it, to such a live. But they were not, they were just ordinary humans. “You should have stayed at home, I told you to forget me! Didn`t you realize what I am? That I am not who I pretended to be?” But the two humans just shook their heads, comrades from school. They never knew who she really was, until one day the white darkness came for her. They had found out were she was hiding and had come to capture her. In front of everyone, she had considered a friend in this human life, she was given a choice. Come with us or those humans will die. She went with them to grant those humans a save life, for everyone who sets one step into this world, will be dragged into it completely. Just as always, her friends paid not much heed, they carried her with them. But as expected the guards soon noticed the intruders. “Leave me and run!” She just screamed at them, they refused. You leave me no choice. She had still enough strength to get them out of here, so she changed. Her friends looked scared, when they saw what she really was. A big, white dragon, she used her power to break through the wall into freedom. Grabbing the two humans gently with her claws, she spread her wings. And escaped once more, they had to fly as fast and as far they could. So, she flew until they had reached a forest, believing they would be save for now. The dragoness changed back for now. She managed to sit down at a tree, “now you are scared, aren`t you? You should run and go home…” But they didn`t, they made a fire and tried to treat her as good as possible. “You lied to us,” one of her friends said. “Would you have believed me, if I would have told you the truth?” They shook their heads in shame. “Don`t worry I am not angry, but what you did was dangerous. You ordinary civilians a new in this world. Dragons and magic, demons and dark forces. For you they are just stories, but we live amongst you. We are living two lives the one in the society in which you are living and the one in the shadows.” “Then why don`t you just give up the other live?” “Don`t you think I would like to? But I can not. Often, I think about how it could be, often I admire you. You who can live such a carefree and happy life. You who do not know the curse of awareness.
