Of all the drum covers of this song I've seen, this one is my favorite. Clearly a good drummer but he played to accentuate the song, not just himself. Very nice piece.

How common is it now to see drummers play open handed? I've seen the drums played both crossed and open. Is it generally out of preference?

Yeah just depends on the person. There is no right or wrong way to play. A lot of open handed drummers tend to be left handed so rather than reversing the kit they play openhanded. Its a great skill to practice if you usually play crossed. A lot of cool stuff can be done playing open handed.

Good one! Really... But I think that at 2:41, as you were increasing the tempo, you could have doubled it once more on the snare...I might be using wrong musical terminology but I hope you get what I am trying to say......If you don't get...never mind...a really good cover though.
