Trilogy explanation. Say amen. The story starts with an ancient evil devil key being stolen by Brendan. His house gets jumped by some thieves trying to steal it and they all die, but in a twist, the date of Brendan beats him up near to death and steals the key. At the end of the video you can hear a heartbeat. One that ties directly into this is gospel. This is Gospel. Brendan is is critical condition after nearly dieing to his date, he is in surgery but for some reason he doesnt want to be fixed, he wants to die. In the song he literally says, "if you love me, then let me go" and at the end of the video he flatlines and dies. Emperor's new clothes. At the begining of the video it quickly recaps this is gospel. And brendan goes to purgatory, he ends up going to hell. Where, (because of the devils key) he turns into a wicked demen. Then he is unleashed apon his screaming souls in hell.

He wrote this about Spencer, his friend and band mate. It’s about how Spencer needed to seek help, the drugs were hurting not just Spencer but Brendon and their friendship. “If you love me, let me go”- He ended up getting clean and their friendship is as tight as ever, with them being the best man at each other’s wedding.

There's more to it, but the basics is this: The woman leaves him for dead at the end of Saturday Night, then this video is him fighting back against death, then at the end of the video he flatlines and everything goes white - he dead. At the start of Emperors New Clothes he thinks hes made it to heaven but then he is dropped down to hell and becomes the gargoyle demon.

If you watch This is Gospel first then watch Emperor’s New Clothes it makes more sense. The beginning of Emperor’s New Clothes is the end of This is Gospel.

Okay billy so everyone is telling you about the trilogy, but before the trilogy, the song was purely about his former bandmate’s drug addiction. He wrote it purely for him and if I remember correctly it got him to seek help.
