They got the name Pantera from a Italian car called the De Tomaso Pantera. Pantera is the Italian word for Panther.

Definitely check out their entire discography. If you want to check out something off of Cowboys From Hell again , I definitely recommend "Domination". The breakdown towards the end will blow your mind. 🤯

Dime used A Dean guitar. They built a series just for him, built for the metal sound. And In the hands of a master like dime all thats left is meant to sonically kick your ass. Thats what Pantera did.

That sound is partly because Dimebag was using solid state amps instead of tube amps - he was one of the first major metal guitarists to really embrace the sound of solid state transistor amps for what it was rather than try to make them sound more like tube amps, as at that point in time that tube amp sound was more popular.

Revolution Is My Name is catchy. Or how about a Metallica instrumental trio with Call of Ktulu, Orion, and To Live Is To Die? Of course you can't go wrong with Judas Priest - Painkiller or more off Rust In Peace like Tornado of Souls or Five Magics.

During his time you couldn't buy equipment that made you sound like that. Its all in the fingers, he presses very hard on the fret with his fingers. He invented his own sound.

I saw the realization that Pantera rules scamper across all three faces a few times in this video. You should react to Slaughtered to hear how much a "more glam version of Metallica" they are. :D Maybe do Revolution Is My Name, Yesterday Don't Mean Shit, Psycho Holiday, Primal Concrete Sledge, Cemetery Gates, Hollow, Domination live at Moscow, of course is a prerequisite for any reaction channel, A New Level, Mouth For War, Becoming.... That's enough for now. You could just pick a song because the title intrigues you and you will discover something uniquely awesome about their song writing abilities and musicianship.

Gosh we love Vicky - and she knows there is no glam in Pantera - at least not from this album forward... But I do agree with her as always - Slaughtered shows their soft underbelly. Their Ballad was "This Love" - it was called an industrial love song. 🤘

Was lucky enough to see them in 1997 at Ozzfest at Mile High Denver Colorado. Another band that was there that day was Type O Negative. Don't know if you dinner reaction to them yet but that would be nice. If you ever do a reaction to Pantera's song Cemetery Gates do not, I repeat do not do the official music video because it cuts off the first first and first 90 seconds of the song. Who knows why.

Pantera are one of the best metal bands ever. Walk, Planet Caravan(which is a cover of Black Sabbath’s original song), Heresy, Cemetery Gates, and my absolute favorite from Vulgar Display of Power F@CKING HOSTILE!

My thoughts on the band name PANTERA : A. It just looks and sounds awesome on a cover. You need more from a metal band? B. I would guess it could be from the italian supercar, De Tomaso Pantera? Which also looks BADASS.

So for this album they wanted to be heavier than all the other bands, to do this. They added loads of bass and treble to his guitar and cut the mids. On top of that they use more gain. But the main source is the equalisation. :) I’m a guitarist of 20 years so I know this shit ;) haha

While I must confess I've written a lot of comments dissing videos and how they distract from the music, however, the official video of this song adds a whole lot to the song. If you're missing it, you've got a lot more to enjoy.

Vulgar Display of Power and Far Beyond Driven are the albums where they really came into their own. Cowboys has some great tracks but still had some glam elements. Vulgar Display of Power was (as the album cover suggests) a punch in the face - hard to find a bad track. Far Beyond Driven is harder hitting again.

@@integrity101 agreed. That being said, I stand by my statement that there was a significant stylistic shift from Cowboys to Vulgar and it was Vulgar that really propelled their popularity.

Walk is a super overrated song honestly, Cowboys is great though. They have a huge catalog with a ton of bangers, definitely check out some more. I'm here for the Maiden and Pantera reactions lol

They had a glam metal look back during their early Power Metal album '88 . Definitely too heavy even in that album to fit in the "glam scene". They could wear spandex and a crapload of aquanet and still sound killer
