About Pantera:
Pantera is an American heavy metal band from Arlington, Texas, formed in 1981 by the Abbott brothers (guitarist Dimebag Darrell and drummer Vinnie Paul), and currently composed of vocalist Phil Anselmo, bassist Rex Brown, and touring musicians Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante. The group's best-known lineup consisted of the Abbott brothers along with Brown and Anselmo, who joined in 1982 and 1986 respectively. In addition to their development and popularization of the groove metal subgenre, Pantera is credited (along with others, such as Testament, Sepultura, and Machine Head) for being part of the second wave of thrash metal scene from the late 1980s to early-to-mid 1990s. Regarded as one of the most successful and influential bands in heavy metal history, Pantera has sold around 20 million records worldwide and has received four Grammy nominations.

It's funny, I only recorded these videos because I got tickets through a work connection and was way up in a box looking down at the show. But the whole time I was watching that mosh pit wishing I could be down there! Believe me, my phone would have been buried in a sweaty pocket if I had been down there with the real fans! 😂

I wish Zakk did what Charlie did and worked hard to maintain the Pantera sound. Charlie’s drum setup and triggers are all based off Vinnie’s sound and vibe. Zakk is just playing the songs with his own vibe and it just doesn’t quite translate.

All you malcontents bitching about this celebration need to get a grip (and it is a "celebration", not a reunion). Pantera is one of the most important heavy metal bands in the history of the genre and it's better for the genre as a whole that they out there putting a spotlight on it - in whatever form is possible for that to happen. It's beyond time for institutions that pretend they represent the very best that music has to offer to start recognizing bands like this. And going out there and putting asses in seats is by far the best way to do that.

You know, I agree with you - there's been so much hate piled on this lineup of the band, but this was the second time I've seen them and it's been a fantastic experience both times. I was wondering at first if they'd feel more like a Pantera cover band, but the magic was still there for me. We'll sadly never bring back Dime and Vinnie, but we should be able to enjoy hearing their music played by a solid lineup of musicians!

@@NerdSafari Exactly. It's like Phil and Rex are still in great shape to do this -- why shouldn't they be allowed go out and celebrate this music? Phil, in particular, is just tearing it up out there. And a whole new generation of fans are getting to see these songs live - something they never thought they'd get to see. I saw them 3 times on that final tour and each time it was just off-the-charts. I love to go see them on this go-round.

They wouldn't let me bring in most of my professional recording equipment, and the stage lights were screwing with the focus on the camera. Did the best I could to capture what I could, but not ideal!
