The closest experience I’ve had with a Pantera “reunion” was rocklahoma 2014. Hellyeah on Friday, Kill Devil Hill on Saturday, and Down on Sunday. All but Hellyeah played a Pantera song which was disappointing. It’s almost like Vinnie was ashamed of it at some point. I understand not living in the past but c’mon, I bet Chad Grey could kill some Pantera

I've been saying in the recent years that they should just do a tribute-show in the sense of what they did with Queen and Freddie Mercury. As in, just let other guitar-players do a song or two each, while of course the other three cats do their original respective parts. - People kept saying "reunion", to which others kept replying "Impossible, because Dime...". - Both the fans and especially the band-members needed to start understanding that it's just about going out there and playing the music live with everyone possible, performers and audience, joining in. And now... Now it's even more fucked. - I wasn't even going to be at that event, as it would likely have been a one-off in the US. But for the sake of it happening I wish it did. - It's really sore, the way it stands now, cause life is fucking fleeting...

They were all on wacky shit at SOME point. Phil being the most publicized in that matter for obvious reasons. And when it comes to Dimebag had he not been killed he would have probably drank himself to death by now. Not everybody has Lemmy's constitution.

The Abyssal Archivist I watched a lecture Phil did at a university in New Orleans, he said the same thing you did about Dimebag, he also said Rex was struggling with drinking. That lecture was in 2009 though. I know Phil gets a lot of flak for stuff, but that lecture was pretty cool to watch.

Well Zakk slowed down, we could have made the same predictions with him 10-15 years ago. Also the fact that Phil is still alive considering he was in much worse shame than Dimebag makes me believe Dime would still be alive today.

damn, the never ending sad pantera whos faul / who's right story. You check the interview/statements of phil, then vinnie and rex and it still eats you up when you hear all the different perspectives or try to figure out what was really going on at the time or over their years. So long ago, still so emotional and much unprocessed feelings. I really hope they can talk and let go sometimes, especially vinnie and phil. They not may be friends anymore but i hope they make peace. This damn story touches me so bad!

Will never be able to wrap my head around why things went how they did with Pantera, and why Dime and the other victims had to be senselessly murdered by that psycho shitbag. It'll always bug me that I was only 11 when Pantera last played, and though I started becoming a huge fan around that time I was too young to get a chance to see them. So, is he saying that Vulgar Display of Power was PanterA's answer to Metallica's Black album? Edit: this video popped back up in my recommendations today. My father saw the thumbnail and thought it was Iggy pop! the years have not been kind to Rex. Cause now he looks like Iggy pop to me too.

Wodinn maybe be so, they pretty much led the torch for thrash (though they’re classified as groove metal) or heavy and fast music at the time ever since Metallica went commercial and more mtv oriented

Anyone who's been in a band knows it's like a family.. but you can only be locked up with your favorite family members for so long before you start hating them. Even being married to your wife or husband... You need some apart time so your not up each others ass all the time. I don't blame anyone for the break up. Time ran it's course and sometimes that magic you bottled up runs out and that's it man.. magic like that is like a dragon. It's wild and you just hold on and enjoy the ride. When it's over you reflect and reminisce and embrace what you had and hi 5 the good times. That's all you can do.

What he said about pantera after their last gig ever was true. Anyone who pays atention to every single detail of music could tell that pantera's road after Reinventing Steel was pretty much on thin ice, the sound that they brought to the scene arround that time was EVERYWHERE and going back to an older Vulgar of Cowboys sound was going to require some work, so yeah, even if they didn't disband and the tragedy struck, I could have seen pantera taking at least 3 years of hiatus to refuel themselves and then get back to work.
