I've never ridden Pantheon, but I did get to ride VelociCoaster for the first time last month. I rode at night with 3 friends and I couldn't believe how insanely ultra elite it ended up being. Seriously one of the best amusement rides of all time. The mosasaurus roll especially is on another level of insanity. Come down to Orlando and ride this yall, it's worth it. I hope one day I can ride Pantheon because it also looks amazing.

Here’s another reason Velocicoaster is better: It has 4 train operations and Pantheon has only 2.

I'll say it: Pantheon has the layout-integrity of an Arrow or B&M looper. Great elements, sure, but you can't just slap elements together and call it a masterpiece. Also removing the theming from Velocicoaster and judging the layout is kind of unfair because the theming is the reason the layout is like that. Without the theming they may not have had the ride spaghetti bowl-ing through the enclosure. I wouldn't mind if they still did because a ride with two distinct halves, both equally good but varying intensities, make a great ride e.g. Maverick.

I’ve ridden this 11 times, and I would hard disagree. It’s one of the best layouts I’ve experienced, even compared to rides like maverick and Fury. The elements flow very well, and the forces are strong and varied, especially in the second half. When I ride, the elements don’t feel like they’re just “slapped together”, at least to me.

Having ridden both, Pantheon cannot compete with Velocicoaster. It has some great elements and moments (my favorite zero-G stall), but Velocicoaster does almost everything better. The elements hit harder, the pacing is phenomenal, and the theming takes it over the top.

Pantheon suffers from the Orion problem of being slightly too short. It is a good coaster, but one carved from the canceled plans of a greater coaster (a giga multi launch shuttle coaster).

That cancelled ride was basically top thrill dragster with a figure 8 at the highest point. I think we lucked out by getting Panthéon.

Got on Pantheon 3 times the day it was opened to the public: back, front and middle rides. Pantheon could be easily described as no-frills with back-to-back elements, but it doesn't feel like an overall good package. The Spike (especially back row), the reverse launch and the stall on Pantheon are great. Pantheon's stall is better than Velocicoaster's because it's got more of a parabolic shape, whereas Velocicoaster's is linear - it feels way different. Pantheon's top hat is slightly taller, but isn't as good: no trim brake after the crest, and you can't beat the view you get on Velocicoaster. I love the little "Kick" in the Velocicoaster spaghetti bowl, the Mosasaurus roll and there's one little element in the Paddock right before the photo that, depending on where im sitting, makes me grey out a little. And it's a cop-out to say "take away the theming." Take away the head-choppers and close-calls? Take away the great views throughout? That's easy to do for Pantheon because the layout is the only thing the ride's got going for it. Even the train feels weak compared to Velocicoaster.

Velocicoaster is a better layout. The second half is amazing and the mosasaurus role is the best single element outside of Holiday World.

Velocicoaster's layout seems more custom, which makes sense as it was designed for existing and specially created terrain, and Pantheon is a coaster in a field that you could plop down in any parking lot. It's way too bad they didn't build Pantheon through a mountain or ruins.

I have yet to make it out to Pantheon, however I will say Velocicoaster continues to be my number 1 ride because as you said the ride continues to get more and more exciting right to the end. I also find the sections of the ride are very distinct and well defined moments which makes them memorable. Many roller coasters string elements together in a way that makes it hard to remember what just happened. After one or two rides on Velocicoaster, I knew the layout and remembered what each moment felt like.

I haven’t ridden Velocicoaster, but Pantheon has one of the best layouts I’ve experienced, so I doubt it would be a clean sweep like others are saying.

velocicoasters layout is underrated. It may not look like but it would still rival iron gwazi without theming for me.

@studio732jrl2 I usually prefer crazy strong and sustained elements, which Pantheon provides imo, and I don’t really care much about theming, so while I would still probably rank Velocicoaster higher, It would have to be significantly better than rides like Steel Vengeance, Skyrush, I305, and Fury, for me to prefer as much as some others do.

@studio732jrl2 I personally put Pantheon as my number 5 behind the other 4 coasters I mentioned, and based on my rides, the swing launch, top hat, outerbank, and stall are some of the best elements I've experienced, and they easily qualify as "wow" moments for me. Plus moments like the spike, first inversion, and final wave turn are also great moments. I'd be lying if I said any element besides the first pass on the speed hill felt weak to me.

I was just saying I'm not expecting Velocicoaster to be THAT much better. Though, I can only make a real comparison once I ride both. Whenever that will be. 🤷‍♂️

This shouldn’t even be close, Intamin managed to deliver two perfect coasters in one with Velocicoaster. Outside of dropping an actual mosasaur in the lagoon at the mosasaur roll, I wouldnt change one thing in both the first and second half of VC

You should go to Gröna Lund in Sweden in Stockholm and try Monster (just so you know you need to book your tickets before you go to the park, so you can’t buy tickets there at the park) btw you make great content!

This debate leads me to draw an analogy… Velocicoaster : Pantheon : : Steel Vengeance : El Toro Anyone else think that analogy holds up, or am I way off base here? 😄 Like, one coaster is shorter but includes a couple really potent, intense moments, and the other is longer and more complete but maybe its elements don’t pack as big a punch.

I will get to ride Velocicoaster for the first time this month. I've ridden Pantheon alot since it's my home park and I gotta say Pantheon is an awesome night ride. It is so much faster at night. I can't wait to see how Velocicoaster is.

I have 20 rides on Velcocioaster and 15 on Pantheon. Velocicoaster is the better overall layout. Valcocicoaster has the better inversion and quite possibly has the best overall set of inversion on any coasters I've ridden. Velcocicoaster has the better theming but for me that isn't super important although I do enjoy the jurassic park/world movies. In terms of air time, again I slightly prefer Velcocicoaster. I just think it has more air time moments. Some of Patheon's elements could be better, for example the outer bank turn is not as good as say Steel Vengeance. Both stalls are great, and I think both top hats are great. The little death airtime hill on Pantheon is great! Also Velcocicoaster seems to be more reliable than Pantheon which has broke down multiple times during my visits and the fact that Pantheon struggles to open in anything more than a mild breeze.

Maybe this is just me, but I rode Velosicoaster in 2022 and I don’t remember it. I think it was just so fast and so intense and so sudden and so much was going on one right after another that I just don’t have much memory of actually riding it. The one part of the ride that I remember is the bit where you hang over the water. However I remember Pantheon a lot. Sure it may be slower and might not have as much going on, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It gives you time to enjoy yourself. Also, the line for Velocicoaster is always so long that you can’t reride it. Pantheons lines aren’t really that long (or at least they weren’t when I went, we rode it twice and it was so good). I think I have to go with Pantheon with this one, but maybe if I get the chance to ride Velocicoaster again, that’ll change.

I personally like Pantheon's layout more. I think that Velocicoaster is more whippy but Pantheon has better more sustained airtime. It really is a shame that BGW did nothing with the coaster's theming, landscaping and atmosphere because Velocicoaster is clearly the overall better ride for that reason.

Pantheon......We went to IOA for the first time in a while and got both Hagrids and Velocicoaster credits added at the same time and we wanted to keep riding Hagrids because its theming and total package and the night ride was amazing. Velocicoaster is a great coaster but nothing beats the swing launches on Pantheon and getting to experience the same element three times in two directions all of different intensities. (The Airtime HIll). I also thought the beginning of Velocicoaster was its downfall where it felt dragged out and slow. Pantheon has a quick little warmup and then boom your in for the ride of your life.

While I haven’t been on velocicoaster, I can agree that it keeps its speed more throughout the layout, pantheon does slow down on the larger elements, while velocicoaster looks like it goes at a perfect pace for hang time, but also speed… if only pantheon ran like it did during testing with riders on it 😮‍💨

Althought I haven't been on either coaster, I would be astonished if either compares favorably to Maverick, which is a more aggressive ride. Velocicoaster looks like half family coaster and half thrill coaster, albeit with great theming. Pantheon looks . . . well, short.

Trust me, it's not half family have thrill, this is foot on the gas full time, I wouldn't put a 12 year old on this ride, that's how thrilling it is,it looks a lil slow in the beginning, ITS NOT, it's the complete opposite.

I think Pantheon is probably the better layout, but the fact that it’s plopped in an open field doesn’t help. Velicicoaster is just the complete package and maybe if Bush Gardens does something with the theming around Pantheon or even just trees, it would really help.

They need to get that theming together. The promo package had pillars and fountains etc. This is about as barren as Drachen Fire was.

Velocicoaster by default for me since I haven't ridden Pantheon yet. Layout wise... I think Velocicoaster is better...also after the mosasaurus roll people forget those quick ending transitions! Intamin come give me a blitz in California!!!

I bet if you if they ran Pantheon the way they did during some of the testing videos everyone saw, this would be a very different opinion to most in this video

Velocicoaster is much smoother and the second half is very strong. Pacing is superior especially with the second launch. Pantheon didn't feel nearly as fast as VC and seemed slightly vibey. It gains points for the reverse airtime and spike, but only if you're in the back of the train. Overall, VC seemed much more intense and fast, but the theming could have influenced that opinion.

I was really underwhelmed by Velocicoaster, and I think it's because of how much everyone hyped it up. I don't think it's bad by any means, and it's still my #7 - but I fully expected it to be top 3, especially when Taron is currently #4.

@@RollercoasterDavid Well, the Scot says Taron is better than Velocicoaster, so by American norms that makes him a bit suspect, and he never stops smiling, so by British standards that means he’s probably a bit simple. 😉 (Coming from a smiling American who’d also have a hard time choosing between Taron and Velocicoaster.)

@@StamfordBridge Taron and VC are very close and the question took me a bit by surprise... Its a tough one to call. I may have been shooting some more footage of Taron recently though... So maybe once my video reviews of VC, Pantheon and fonix are completed there'll be time for a Collab Taron vs VC one.

Pantheons big elements are not breaks they provide sustained ejector and my favorite element is either the massive outer bank or that incredible drop and I feel like considering your track record you may have said velocicoaster to get people to play that game for a slight chance to go be disappointed by velocicoaster

I think everyone is missing the point? Velocicoaster is the most themed outdoor coaster ever! Big budget, multi launch high tech. Thrills comes from change in velocity (speed and/or direction) and this showed that a slower ride with tight turns and elements can be as thrilling as a giga where you just haul.. and the benefit is longer duration and time to notice the theming Pantheon is a similar philosophy of doing more without raw height and speed. But they accomplish it by re using track! That is revolutionary! You get a longer ride, at lower cost, and more thrills. For an Orlando park, they need a big budget ride like velocicoaster. For Virginia they are making more from less. Though the queue and theming for pantheon is embarrassingly bad. They may as well call it construction site coaster

@@RollercoasterDavid Let's see, to figure out how many RMC's I have ridden we need to do some math. There are 4 open Raptors, add the 4 woodies to get 8, and 14 open hybrids to get 22. Subract 11 hybrids, 2 Raptors, and 1 woodie to get 8. Now add 2, divide by 5, add 1, and subtract 3 to get... Zero 😪

I haven’t ridden either but I think velocicoaster still wins if pantheon had about 1000-1500 more feet it might win but velocicoaster is a much longer ride and a much more complete ride

I believe Pantheon is the better ride overall, it has many unique elements and doesn't waste time stringing them all together, and Is more intense. And I can ride Pantheon at least 4 times a day, Velocicoaster always has an insane line so I can't get many rides

I prefer Pantheon because it’s much more intense the airtime is way better there’s better hangtime laterals and the launches are way more forceful. VelociCoaster only has a few pops of airtime but the mosasaurs role is downright insane and of course the capacity and operations are amazing. But even though Pantheon has more downtime and the restraints are a bit worse I still a Pantheon more then VelociCoaster.

Pantheon is kind of the better ride to plop into a flat empty field in Virginia. It's weird enough to stand out without anything else. Velocicoaster, which I haven't ridden, seems more straightforward and harder to market, even if better in the end. Pantheon is also very Busch Gardens in that it has some intense moments, but overall isn't. Those complaining of it peaking in the middle -- most coasters peak on their first drop, or shortly after. This at least pushes that to 2/3 of the way through the ride. As to what I think -- it's good but weird.

Idk how people put iron gwazi over pantheon I thought I loved it because it was my second big coaster but I rode like 15 times yesterday for my birthday it is spectacular I also feel the crew was much better than velocicoasters crew and to end the day for my birthday trip I got evacuated just wish we got evacuated on the launch and not the brakes
