Someone has already performed some durability tests for 41 total products, including this one. He's currently at the 9 month mark and has been doing monthly updates. If you're curious the video is called "Ceramic Coating Longevity Test - 41 WAY - The ULTIMATE comparison test - UPDATE 11 -9 MONTHS" its by Scott HD. In part 3 of this series he measured a gloss increase at the 20 degree angle and a slight decrease at the 60 degree angle. The product definitely seemed really slick when he was trying to perform before an after gloss measurements.

Hi Pan, hope you're doing well. I'd become a fan of your channel since I'm a beginner on this industry and bought a car. I'm planning to use the Meguiars Paint Coating and have a doubt with it. I also bought the Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Liquid Wax, Hybrid Ceramic Spray Wax and the Hybrid Ceramic Wax Detailer and I'm curious about combining them with the Paint Coating. What do you recommend about it?

If someone released a product that could be applied in direct sunlight they'd have a massive winner. Not everyone has a garage or somewhere to work on their paint out of the sun. And here in the south even the very early morning sun is brutal. I've tried many a product that "claims" to be direct sunlight friendly. But, alas, they are not. Instantly flashes, streaks, becomes an absolute chore to buff out. Waxes and sealants are much easier to work with in these situations. The only option is the limited dusk time, or break out work lights and do it after the sun sets.

This product IS able to be used in direct sunlight in my experience. It’s still super easy to remove just don’t coat the whole vehicle. I can get away with 2-3 panels at a time. After that it is a little harder to remove but still not terrible

I caught this on closeout at Auto Zone about a year ago, and applied it to my paint immediately. A year later, it's still beading fairly well on a car that is outside 24x7. Not sure I would pay full retail for it, but it is an incredibly easy product to use.

Great review Pan! I did all the necessary steps before applying this product to my 2009 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 in early September 2021. This is a daily driven vehicle which stays outside 24/7. To be honest, I have not washed my truck since the application and I have to say it still has excellent beading!!

I'll share my experience with this. I applied this on my daily driven van, sits in the elements 24/7, color is burgandy. I did a full prep, clay, decon, polish and then application of this. The slickness is top notch, water beading is insane. It's also ridiculously easy to use and very forgiving. Zero high spots. However, the biggest mark against it has to be with durability. After last summer, it lasted maybe 7 months on the roof area, the water was looking flat already. The hood and rear hatch area also started looking flat. The sides and bottom areas of the car still looked great. And keeping in mind I do use the ceramic detailer to top it off time to time. Disappointing to say the least. My mother's Lexus I applied CQuartz UK 3.0 1.5 years ago, and it still beads almost the exact same today. So Pan is on point here when he talks about how people can spend an entire day prepping their vehicle, why not just apply a more durable ceramic coating. I definitely will not be using this on regular daily drivers. However, I did apply this to my wife's MDX and my new Supra because they are garaged. In this case I believe it will exceed the 1 year+ durability claim. So like any product it will have it's pros and cons. But if you're looking for extreme long term durability, look into one of the other ceramic coatings instead.

I'm glad you mentioned Fast Finish because that was my first thought. I bought 3 cans of that on clearance at Walmart for dirt cheap so I'm set for a minute. This was horrible marketing though, before this week I didn't know it existed and that's rare for Meguiar's

Good video and review Pan, I find this to be a decent product. It’s easy to apply and has great water beading characteristics . Even if it lasts six months it would be a great product to use after a paint enhancement. Everyone tends to forget that it wasn’t that long ago we would do paint enhancements, one and two step corrections and just add a wax or sealant. So if your doing a quick paint enhancement or just a good cleaning . I see no reason why this couldn’t be in someone’s arsenal. The ease of use is super easy and no real risk of leaving high spots. Always appreciate your videos and hope you have a great weekend.

Bought this at Autozone on Clearance for around $30. I applied it here in southern Missouri in late November. So far this year we've had 1 major snow storm, two minor snow storms, and rain. The road salt has sat on it for probably around 3 weeks. I have only been able to wash it three times since November due to it being just to cold for weekly washes. After three months the hardest hit area of my car is the lower front doors by the wheel well. I would say there is already a 50% degradation, however the rest of the car is still beeding and shining like the day I applied it. I would say it is still on track to last a year, but the lower doors may give out at six months.

I think the marketing department really dropped the ball here. For example, it does offer UV protection- at least according to their social media team. I opted to try the new Gyeon Evo line instead of this for this year tho

I love this product. Honestly other than my Apex Suface Coating it’s been better for me than Adams Graphene Coating, Armor Sheild, and CarPro 3.0. The hydrophobics are just insane. I’ve never put anything in my windshield that works so well.

The Meguiar's isn't recommended on glass though. How long has it been lasting on your paintwork so far?

@@PanTheOrganizer I’ve had it on my car that I drive about 35k/year since mid summer. Still going very strong, but I’m pretty meticulous with even my work car. I literally keep the detailer of what ever coating in my car with a rag at all times. I read the glass thing, but just wanted to see. It really is crazy good. The only coating I have on one of four cars I think cleans up better right now is Apex Surface Coating. I’ve been a bit disappointed in the CarPro, Armor Shield is at least super easy to use but good it’s cheaper, and Adams Graphene Coating has stayed pretty solid.

Funny that you say it isn’t recommended on glass but it’s the only thing it’s lasted on.. I did the whole cleaning and setup and everything and this stuff was totally dead by the 6 month mark.. but on the glass it’s still there at the 1 year mark

I coated my wifes jeep with adams graphene coating and my truck with this meguires kit..its now been over a year. Her jeep isn't beading at all anymore.. My truck still is. I'll never use adams again.

Ollies now has these for $20 as they bought them on closeout for a bunch of meguiar's products so picked me two up. I plan to use these for clients who just need some basic protection and are not paying that much. I mean for $20 I can get 2 or 3 cars and just as you mentioned for the longevity of storage that plus cost was my main reason.

Normally, I would agree with you that I want a gloss enhancer, but it just so happens that I use this product on a car that has both gloss and matte finishes and the fact that it doesn’t add gloss works out really well in this scenario. Plus I can just use a topper with gloss enhancer like bead maker on the gloss paint work for example. And yes it should have really good chemical resistance, being a ceramic coating or not really has nothing to do with chemical resistance at all. Also, I know it doesn’t make a claim for UV protection but it does. 👍 loved the video

Pan, I applied the Meg's HPC to my 2016 CRV and did the standard prep, (Strip wash, Clay and Iron Decon, and paint correction) and it was a pleasure to apply. My results: paint is slick and smooth with a nice radiance to it. I had an unplanned test in support of this coating take place over the weekend, Considering its spring time and the Pollen is every where I had planned to wash the vehicle, but checked the forecast and saw it was going to rain so I held off and was surprised to see about 90 + percent of the Pollen rinsed off the vehicle as compared to my other vehicle that does not have the coating. If I get a year of protection out of it I will definitely apply it again.

ive used this on 3 of my cars... 1 red and 2 black cars... absolutely love it!... so easy to use,, easy directions... never had a better result in over 30 years of personal car paint care... will always use it... hope they never dis- continue this product.. thanks for the video... :) :)

This is an awesome product for the great price, easy to apply, super slick, super hydrophobic and very glossy!!! Based on my experience it works better than some ceramics, for example - Avalon King. About gloss, it is immediately noticeable with the yes and by the gloss meter!

Oh well. I didn't see any gloss enhancement in my tests. It didn't remove gloss, but it didn't give it what other glossy products give in my opinion. Doesn't mean it's a bad product though. It does have very good points about it, and many seem passionate about it, like you seem to be. ;) To each their own in the end. I like to tell my viewers to use what they like, what makes them happy, and what gives the best results in their testing. Doesn't matter what others say, it's your wallet at the end of the day that dictates what you will buy right?

I have used this coating and can confirm there is, at best, microscopic enhancement in gloss. However, the 3 strengths of this coating are #1- Long working time - You can coat the entire hood come back and wipe it off no high spots no problem. #2- Slickness - One of the slickest products I have ever used. #3- Self Cleaning - With a pressure washer & foam gun, you can do a "touchless" wash every other week effectively cutting back 50% of your touch washes = less swirls / scratches. If your skill level is higher and you have a climate controlled garage, then you should step up to the more professional SiO2 coatings, but if you're a beginner, this coating is very forgiving.

I applied this 13 months ago (2 coats) and it’s still there. It’s a Black in color daily driver and washed about every 3 weeks, give or take. After the 2-3rd wash it gets wiped down with the Ceramic Detailer. I was previously doing the M27 sealant under the Liquid Ceramic Wax(2 coats)and the same Ceramic Detailer every 2-3 washes. Both last as long as the other but the Ceramic Wax has a bit more shine. PS I live in Md. where we get it all weather wise, high 90’s temps to single digits, snow, salt etc. PPG which is one of the manufacturers of Polysiloxane says this about UV. With their exceptional color/gloss retention and superior resistance to corrosion, ultraviolet (UV) light, abrasion, and chemicals, polysiloxane coatings became the industry choice for protection of storage tanks, smokestacks, oil platforms, bridges, and other infrastructure applications, as well as for amusement parks ...Feb 26, 2020 And the reason Meguiars and others made the switch is that SI02 has some really harmful side effects in many ways but mostly it’s a known cancer causing chemical. Meguiars is protecting themselves from lawsuits in the future, according to an ex-employee.

Great overview sir. Also thank you for the catch and advice on the curing time and wash follow up. What about the trim? Should trim be avoided? Glass? What if there is bleed on the trim/glass?

You can use this on plastic trim. Not recommended for glass.

Also, M122 is quite different from the traditional IPAs as it is specifically designed to remove waxes and polishes and does not cause paint to swell which could cause issues with the heat generated from polishing. This means you can use it constantly to clean panels to check your work between passes without worry. The IPA is more general and aggressive in its targeted cleaning ability. In short, M122 and IPAs are application specific and shouldn't be used interchangeably.

This is a great coating and it does have Uv protection and it does enhance gloss used it on a new car and it works better than carpro 3.0 no clogging same self cleaning and super easy to apply the only thing I do not like is it’s price point. I feel like if you are going to spend 60 and do all the work just go for a traditional coating, only reason I tried it was that it was on clearance for 22, if they drop the retail price it will be a steal of a great product.

Where did you see that it has UV protection? And where did you see that it adds gloss? I see no evidence of this anywhere, at least not from credible sources.

@@PanTheOrganizer It could just be an assumption based on the properties of Polysiloxane. I am going to reach out to the folks at Meguiar’s to confirm they have tested with UV properties, but I seem to recall in a chat with them they confirmed it did

@@PanTheOrganizer From Markus Kleis channel who was one of the creators of this product when he worked for meguiars states it on his channel and on social media and also on meguiars blog they also state it has I’ve protection and to my eyes I have my car coated in carpro 3.0 and I have my fiancé car coated in meguiars both are equally glossy. You should check out MK deep dives it’s Markus channel and he has several vids covering this product.

A few viewers of mine told me about his channel and that he was disrespecting me indirectly, so I watched a few videos, and he seems to have a chip on his shoulder against other content creators like myself, which I find sad, as I have never met him and have never done anything wrong to him. I guess that's KZfaq, but that doesn't mean I'm ok with that. But to get back to the main point. Why would Meguiar's not mention it has UV protection on the box itself or on the bottle? All brands talk about UV protection when they actually put UV inhibitor packages in the formulation. So I found it odd that they would omit to put that on there if it did... We can at least agree on that.

I love this product, my garage is full of Meguiars products and this one is by far my favorite. Just bought a genesis g90 and first thing I did was wash, clay and coat it. Hope,meguiars marketing starts pushing this product cuz i really don’t want it discontinued. You’re absolutely correct, no gloss enhancement. I have found that I can add a polish on top of the coating to bring out a great gloss.

This sounds like a great product, however I have a red car in the extreme southern Arizona sun. I may use it after I do the paint correction but without UV protection I’ll still have to get a good professional ceramic coating. Thanks for this product review!

I think the product is great. Especially for the common person that just wants to lay down some long lasting protection. I’m the type of person that will reapply waxes/sealants once I start to see the product degrading. I’ve put this on 3 cars (9months, 7months, and 4months) and there hasn’t been any sign of degradation on any. None are garage kept. It does not give any boost in gloss. You can use a basic quick detailer to boost gloss if you want. You can also use Meguiar’s Ceramic Detailer but there’s really no need to pay the extra money.

I'll tell you right now.... I use the blue hyrbrid wax on everything. But there's a trick that I found..... Wash vehicle, rinse vehicle... after extensive mixing spray one panel at a time with the blue wax, use a damp micro fiber to evenly spread it over the panel. High pressure rinse it off right before it dries, starting from the bottom up.

I'm not the biggest Meg's fan but here should be no controversy on the ceramic element. It doesn't say anywhere it's ceramic. Just because it has *benefits* of a ceramic coating doesn't mean it's formulated with SiO2.

So far in the short but informative time I've been following, thus far the video with the tire products intro from t wax, pink foam and iron remover...solid products and just an eye opener in general. Winter time in northeast has kept me from doing the big tasks i.e. ceramic...I am prepping, full of products and just waiting on a 65° day soon to hook it up. The tires i managed to park in an indoor parking lot in upper west side under the heat for that level and i said...here's my chance to try out the pink foam and the graphene tire dressing. Holding up well, i pass a damp cloth to the tires and wheels to get the winter stuff off and I keep it moving with dark blackwalls that have a slight shine

I think as you do you, having gone to a lot of trouble to get the car to the point of coating why would you not just apply either a good ceramic or graphene coating that does all the Meguiar's offers as well as UV protection, it is basically the same process so for me it seems a lesser form and the marketing I feel really is aimed at those who may have heard about ceramic but don't know about it enough to question and think this is one. Where did you get that info? I find it odd that Meguiar's wouldn't mention it on the package or on the bottle if it had UV protection. All brands mention this when they add a UV inhibitor package in the formulation. Why would they not say that? Seems weird.

@@PanTheOrganizer Marcus, who was involved in creating Hybrid Paint Coating, said they didn’t Include UV protection in the marketing material because they had run out of time to go through legal review. They legally review all of their marketing claims, so while it has UV protection by design and built in, they missed the ball on being able to tout it. Because you have such a big audience and influence, I bet you would have been able to contact Meguire’s to clear up all of the points of confusion you brought up. It is true they messed up the marketing on this. They said they also tested it against can coat and it lasts longer, and a higher contact angle, and is slicker, for example. This product should really be more known than it is.

3M makes a similar product we use on motors in our shop. Just called Silicone spray but you spray it on after painting and prepping and it leaves a slick coating like a waterproofing and keeps rust from forming .

Great review, I put this on the car last weekend, gave it a couple of days to cure in the garage and then parked outside (due to space limits). the car was so smooth and very slick. Then it rained overnight and while I was using the car during the day. I wiped it down and it was still smooth but i did notice some small water spots on the paint. What do you recommend I do?

Hi Jan. You start with the less aggressive solution first, and move up according to the results. First, you can start by washing the car using a shampoo that can remove light water spots: bit.ly/3QPYXQF Then you can move up to a water removing spray: bit.ly/3BrWg2e If there are still spots after those chemicals, it means they started to etch into the finish (if left unattended for too long) and you'll have to machine polish the surface, and reapply the Hybrid Paint Coating. As far as I am aware polysiloxane and silicone is a ceramic as si02 is silicone dioxide so this sounds like it's a similar formulation to the cheap ceramics from the far east.

Pan as always love your videos. Watched your most recent one about McGuire's hybrid paint coating. I agree like you said if you're going to go through. All the prep work to get the vehicle is clean as possible. Why would you just use a pure ceramic coating. We can get 2 to 5 years of protection. So which ones would you recommend for consumer use. Something with ease of use and possible costs.

Thanks Pan - another well done and detailed video. 2 questions. Can you comment about how it holds up to when water dries directly on the vehicle, perhaps leaving spots or residue? Can you apply this product on top of Avalon King ceramic coating since it’s not a ceramic product? My vehicle is a daily driver and it seems that water leaves a residue when it dries on the vehicle. Dust and dirt seem to cling to the vehicle even though it’s coated.

I didn’t leave the water dry on the surface so impossible for me to know. And as this is a customer’s vehicle, it’s not mine so I can’t conduct such trsts unfortunately. As far as using it as a topper over an existing ceramic coating, they don’t mention this so you would have to try it and see for yourself, or reach out to the company and ask them directly. Cheers!

I’ve used he he Meguiars ceramic spray in the blue bottle. It’s worked a nice maintenance products where I spray it on the car after I’ve rinsed it off from washing it, then rinse again.

Although there's no Si02 in the product, this product is extremely easy to apply and like Pan said.. VERY forgiving. Super tight beads and fast sheeting at its best. The durability thus far has exceeded my expectations and like another viewer commented, it out performs some of the other well known actual ceramic coatings on the market. I too saw a visual increase in gloss. (applied the night before and seeing it the following morning... On a white vehicle) Whatever Meguiars has in the formula that's proprietary, its giving other bonified coatings a run for their money.

Yes this was extremely easy to apply that's for sure. Still odd that nobody really is talking about this product a year later... In my opinion, it was just not the best marketing, as it does seem to work, and many seem to rave about its real world durability. I think if they had simply stayed in the Ultimate Fast Finish way of marketing, that is a pure sealant, and kept the price in something more affordable for the actual people who buy this, they could have had a success. It should have been something like a paint sealant, instead of confusing around the terms of ceramic coatings... (It's obvious why they did that, ceramic sells!). If it was simply called a sealant, and people realized they get 12 months of protection, they would probably be selling even more. I often place myself in the shoes of the regular buyer that goes to auto parts stores or big box stores like Wal-Mart and happens to be in the detailing isle, and looks at these products. If it's too hard to understand what the product actually is, they're not inclined to purchase. But for someone who has never tested a true ceramic coating and would like to get an easy introduction into the world of paint coatings, then this is where this product really shines. And from there, they can graduate to actual glass bottle coatings with more confidence! :)

Yes. But make sure you wait a week after having applied the paint coating for it to cure fully, and then you can wash your car and start using the Hybrid Ceramic Spray Wax as a topper when needed.

The "coating" needs to cure indoor for 12h. After that you can drive the car and let it cure naturally outside, without exposing it to moisture, rain, etc. Also, being a silicone coating, i think that you shouldn't touch plastics with it 🤔. Masking shoud do the job. Great job Pan, as always!

On my 11 year old VW Golf daily driver I use Meguiar's wash and wax and top it off on a weekly basis, and sometimes in between, with their Quik Detailer. The gloss on this vehicle is superior to my ceramic coated 2020 VW SUV. There is no incentive to go this new product for me, as good as it may be. Cheers -John

If I take a wild guess… The big box store general public brands appeal to a different crowd. A person that shops products at Wal-Mart or local auto parts stores, probably doesn’t have the experience or knowledge that detailing enthusiasts or professionals have. It takes more knowledge and experience to apply a glass bottle full blown coating compared to a spray wax or sealant. Mass market appeal isn’t the same as appealing to enthusiasts like my viewers. The Pan The Organizer viewers are passionate about detailing and love diving deeper into detailing products technology. That being said, glass bottle coatings are becoming easier and easier to apply and more and more people in the general public are starting to be educated about them (through KZfaq videos for example) so I wouldn’t be surprised if the big brands eventually jump on the coatings bandwagon.

Your definitely right about paint correction for the best gloss and finish. But even better is a wet sanded and polished paint. If you remove all of the orange peel it will look like a show car. I know that pan already knows this

I wouldn't recommend wet sanding on a daily driver, as the orange peel has a purpose, it hides minor scratches and swirls. It's intentionally put on there by the factory. If a car is a garage queen or trailer queen, or a museum showpiece, then yes wet sanding and having the paint perfectly smooth is as good as it gets for gloss.

common man, for the price of it, is awesome, one plus year of protection for a few bucks, the shinning part you have to do it before aplying, i used mirror glaze and it looks amazing, i used almost a year ago and still do the work, once a month i apply the detailer and wash it weekly with the shampoo and it really works. In my opinion is an underated product, the only negative part is the sun protection.

Each person is entitled to their opinion, and you certainly are entitled to yours. If you're happy with it, then that's great, it's your hard earned money that was spent wisely. I do think it's a good product overall, but in my opinion there is better out there for approximately the same price. Where the Meguiar's is a good buy, is when people can get it at a heavily discounted price. I saw a comment from a viewer who got it for $12 USD on clearance. Now that's a great buy!

Curiously, can we apply product directly? I heard that Maguire ceramic Wax had better to apply it directly without washing. It totally opposite from the instruction! Thanks for your informative advice

You NEVER apply paint protection on a dirty car. Instructions from a manufacturer would never say to apply a wax, sealant or coating on a dirty car. That makes zero sense. You always have to wash your car first. And ideally, you would also do some decontamination like iron remover, followed by a clay bar. And then machine polish the paint if you want to remove defects and increase gloss. And then do a panel prep with an IPA solution or paint prep spray to remove polishing oils. This will ensure the protection will bond properly to the clear coat. And then you apply the protection as per the directions of the product you are buying.

I never knew this existed but I'm glad I do now, maguires has a very versatile product line and this is a good fit but I absolutely understand the controversy behind it. Thank you for this video Pan! I know they're different, how is the roar coating doing on the Porsche?

@@PanTheOrganizer that's amazing to hear! I really really want to work up to that coating plus having Yvan Lacroix alone is a treat. I'm dealing with harsh weather in Ohio I've been using warm water and the n914 so far so good

I’ve been a long time fan, I discovered your channel a little before the start of the plandemic shutdown and instantly subscribed and def love your knowledge and how you use hi end and Walmart brands as well. I got into detailing from watching you and a few others, keep up the amazing content and lets get that Porsche out ripping on the roads lol !

Meguiar's made a fantastic product that competes with Gyeon Can Coat, but never really marketed it enough. This product seems to be more comparable to Sonax Polymer Net Shield, but on steroids. Never even made it Canada and never gave a reason as to why it wasn't offered to retailers here. Not sure if it was even offered in the UK.

How can this product compete with can coat? from what I've just seen in the video, meguiars product has no UV protection, no ceramics and no gloss improvement, this product can't even compete with the new seal N shine 😉
