This song Dropped in 2000. I was Sophomore in High School lol. Damn i feel old. And yes its him playing the piano but his good friend Sean Rooney composed it. Fun fact Ronnie said he did the vocals in one take and was in the studio for less than 25 minutes and Jacoby absolutely loves this.

I am a fan of the original version of this song. It came out when I was a teenager, so I always used to sing it at the top of my lungs. Now that I'm an adult, Ronnie's version made me pay attention to the lyrics, and understand the meaning behind them.

This isn’t the first reimagined song 🎶 I highly recommend doing in 1 video each, the song 🎶 The Drug In Me Is You (the original) he wrote this in prison while looking at a reflection of himself in the mirror knowing he’s his own chaos, his own issue from struggles with addiction, getting in trouble hence the title The DRUG In ME Is YOU, just realize it’s not about girl, it’s more about a younger Ronnie and his rock style life, getting women, going to court kinda using humor to deal with things, then in the same video 10 years later The Drug In Me Is You (reimagined) using his incredible vocals to bring the raw emotion to what the lyrics he wrote truly mean! Then in another video do I’m Not A Vampire, which he also wrote in prison, he likens his rock styles life of that of a vampire, then in the same video do I’m Not A Vampire (revamped) 10 years later a more mature Ronnie just makes a video masterpiece of a movie, by the way both are the same lyrics but uses his voice to dive into the raw powerful lyrics he wrote, the vampire is a metaphor for his addiction, hiding it, bringing people into your addiction, destroying them, destroying you and the girl in that video is his girlfriend! The 2 bands have toured together so know each other pretty well. Ronnie apparently asked Jacoby if he could cover this. Now I’m an Aussie and had never heard this song before in my life, nor had my son who is the right vintage for it, so obviously not as big here as the US, so I don’t have any emotional attachment to the original but did go and watch it after seeing this and what a difference!! I’m so glad that Jacoby loves this version of what he wrote over two decades ago, so it reaches even more people now than it would have. Beautiful job Ronnie and great song Jacoby!

Many times, especially in the older songs, Ronnie played different instruments for the recording. Yes, he can play guitar, drums, piano, etc. However, the music for this song was composed by Sean Rooney, an Irish composer, and the recording you are listening to is Sean. If you see any footage about making his music videos you will hear he is always actually singing or playing when they are shooting the video. Otherwise, it doesn't look real. :)
