I wouldn’t call this metal. It’s rock combined with a little bit of rap.

I like how these bands were able to sing about dark and sad stuff, without depressing you too much, because they made it aggressive or upbeat. Such as Korn, Slipknot, System of a down and such. Don't get me wrong, I was a big Nirvana fan in the 90ies, but it often was just depressing, because it didn't have that energy to just shake off your depression.

It's interesting that Lex takes so much interest in the lyrics of Eminem songs, but not songs that have deep, personal or political lyrics (like this or Rage Against the machine). But I'm glad she mentioned that she's not listening to the lyrics, otherwise the whole bath play-list thing would be quite concerning, lol.

As a person with low self esteem and battling depression and suicidal thoughts this song always uplifts me reminding me that that I’m not alone

Lol I feel like I didnt even realize what the words were in this song when I loved it as a kid. There was this weird trend of having suicidal tendencies with some kids in like 2000 or 2001 or whatever, and i was never one of those kids, but I loved this song. Now when I see these lyrics, its just horribly cringey to me, because it reminds me of those super fake-emo kids back then. It was in middle school and you could tell these kids who suddenly changed how they dressed completely one day, because they wanted to look like their favorite bands, were just being fake. Girls would cut themselves and then show you like it was cool or something. Not even a cry for help... it was just completely fake and embarassing.

I always remember the video because it showed teenagers and young adults who I could see that were just like me. It didn't matter what they looked like, you could see their homes, their rooms, and how they all shared this same angst and struggle while being unified with how they were when got to appear around the band while they were playing. It was both a vibe and at the same time really grounded in how many kids in that time felt.
