Paper Clip Embellishment Share and Tutorial

Not just for junk journals any more... these collage paperclip embellies were created to attach to any planner, book or calendar. So often I look for a small gift to make for the non-junk journalers in my life, and though this could be a great JJ feature, I wanted these to also be able to stand alone. Using the fabulous silk fabrics and beaded medallions from bohodaydreams (link below), this is what I came up with. (Thank you again Sheila and CJ!)

So gorgeous! Thanks for sharing. I was actually comforted by the fact that the amazing Mrs. Cog also spends time deciding on things... such as buttons! I am a horribly slow crafter, trying to decide what fits where, and I always assume you gals on here with your creative genius minds just whip things out with barely a thought! :-)

Thank you KatyLyn. After a few years at this, I find the mechanical things such as sewing signatures in and distress inking or stenciling go rather quickly. It's the decisions that can still take quite a while. If the buttons don't glow or the sari isn't the right shade... ;-)

Wow! I was SO thrilled when you slid the elephant mini-journal out of the beaded sari square!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to do a tutorial on these. When you have time, will you please do another tutorial to show us how you make the pocket to slide the mini-journal in and out? And also how you did that mini-journal with the fold-out page? Those are SO beautiful!!!

DId you hear me squealing with delight all the way from Aus?! These are FABULOUS! Thanks for the tip about 'finger painting' the glue when using it with the silks. Loved those teeny tiny books too. BIG happy sigh!!!

You could wear that as a broach! Fill it with tiny pictures of your grandchildren and write in there how you feel about them and wear it with a unique outfit as a brooch. especially around your grandchildren. then you can pull that little booklet out and show them .can you imagine how they would feel knowing that you're wearing that next to your heart! what a great idea! WOW! WOW! WOW! and did I say WOW!? These are just THE BOMB and even if you don't Journal they would make the most memorable bookmarks for any reader out there. Also a fantastic add-on to any swap or even a stalking stuffer. Thank you so much for the inspiration.

Thanks for another great idea...though Boho is not my thing...these are beautiful, and I can see myself doing them with roses, hearts and buttons etc, or with Botanicals and birds and bees and so this is very inspiring....thankyou so much ...love it!

I've been amassing Alice in W Land ephemera, paper, charms, you name it. I wondered what I was eventually going to do with all of wonderful materials. Making a journal like your blue fairy journal, is just the ticket. Adding this paper clip ephemera is going to be perfect. Greetings from BC Canada . Sandi

I’m only 18 minutes into the video and had to tell you how impressed I am! I can see using this technique with bead embroidery and needle woven bead work! Can’t wait to try it! Thank you for the inspiration.

Wow, these are amazing! A gift all by itself. Curling paper clips, genius! Thank you for the ideas. I found several shops on Etsy and had to order a few bundles of this wonderful, beaded fabric and ribbon. I also heard back from Sheila, so I am ordering from her as well. You have started a new craze. Wowser! Just new you would think outside the box. How absolutely gorgeous. I am so going to have to make some of these. You’ve got me sitting here at night rounding paper clips. But someone forgot to tell the company to make them out of paper instead of steel. Hard on the hands. Bought a huge bag from goodwill for 50 cents...did I say how big that bag was.......Love love love them all......just stunning. 💕🧚‍♂️💐

Thank you so much! I'm making these. I'm making a BoHo journal cover. I tea dyed some paper and also have vellum paper to go inside. It's going to be a photo journal. One signature, and I'm collecting photos of my grand daughter who's receiving this journal. I'm copying the photos and will be fussy cutting them out like Tim Holtz people. Her from baby to adult including her brother and family members. I thought that would be fun. She likes BoHo looking objects, so I think she will like it. With some beads and lace added to pages and these beautiful paper clips, it should be fun. Love love your work. I followed your obstructions on tea dying.❤

What exquisitely, beautifully, adorned fancy medallions and journals. You've really outdone yourself on these. The two blue ones are my favorite but the elephant journals were beyond luscious. A very "King and I" vibe. That purple Meuse is just EVERYTHING

Couldn't love these more than I do. Thanks for the tip on how to attach with glue. I've had the fabrics, an idea and all the supplies waiting to be used but wasn't sure how to attach the fabrics to my substrate. Now I know. :)

What a lovely project! And I especially like the glue technique! I've found a craft glue hanging with the sewing kit at Dollar General, and it's a fabric glue, I think. It glues pottery real well, and metal to fabric and paper. Don't know how the price works out compared to the Fabri tex, but I love it. It's a small bottle with a very fine nozzle. @@MrsCog everything is going well with my mom and that is the important thing right now, so it's good. Just very busy and I wish there was a place to go but time. LOL You and your honey look very busy in the garden and yard. It's all coming along so nicely. The windows are beautiful. Lots of work, but pays off in the end with good food, a warm place to lay your head at night and lots of love all around. Be well and take care, it's so nice to chat with you
