Before I was born, the Extension Service had teachers that taught housewives and their children how to make paper roses out of crape paper. These paper roses were sold twelve for a dollar. Some of these roses were dipped in hot wax to make them last longer and look real. These farming families earned money by selling their crape paper roses for Mother's Day and Memorial Day. I remember buying twelve double yellow roses for my mother's birthday from a Mrs. Slusher, back when I was a child. I will soon be turning 73 years old. I have always wanted to know how to make paper roses and poppies. I have not seen crape paper sold in stories for many years. Coffee filters are better than crape paper. The fake flowers sold at WalMart and the Dollar Stores are not well made any more. Thank you for this video. I'll be viewing more of these videos to learn how to make my own paper flowers. Please stay safe.

What lovely memories! Thank you for sharing 💖 i have seen the wax dipping technique and it intrigues me. It does add a unique realness to crafted blooms, doesn't it. Unfortunately it also scratches and marrs up the sheen over time. I suspect so many new sprays and products have taken over the technique... but i think it may still be worth trying one day. 💕

@@craftedstudioco Crepe paper today is not like my Mom used. It does not curl and tears very easily. The good ones many be available on Amazon but it is a risk for me to try to buy given I am in the Caribbean and the exchange rate for US$1 is high, when available. Lovely reading your story. My Mom also made all kinds of flowers including wax flowers. My Dad had crafted some steel balls of varying sizes to form the shapes.

I just discovered your videos. I love them. Your instructions are quick & easy. I don’t like all the extra “stuff” that makes other videos way too long! Thank you. Thank you.

I try to keep most of these short and concise for the detail required. Some flowers require longer sections but thats when i will break it into separate videos so ppl can revisit only what they need to :)

Love these. Thank you for your wonderful instructions. I did have a problem with the color. I watched your video, but my red is too intense. I bought new gel food coloring, good reviews. But id like it to be a brighter red than so dark. Should I add less food coloring and more glue? I’ve carefully measured 1 tsp food coloring and 3/4 tsp glue and slowly added the water. Thank you. Pretty ! Did you show it with the foam ball ? I think i missed it.
@craftedstudioco4 жыл бұрын
You can use foam balls ... Or wrap soft paper (tissue or paper towel) into a ball. I talk about that around minute 5:15 in the video 💕

How do u get the filters red
@craftedstudioco8 ай бұрын
I dye them with food colouring :) if ypu look at my playlist for paper flowers, there is a red rose tutorial .. part 1 (video 1 of 3) has a great red dye technique that will help with a deep color. 😀

Hi! I would like to know if, by any chance. Do you provide templates for videos posted on youtube? Hugs, Paula
@craftedstudioco2 жыл бұрын
I actually dont do templates .. i have general shape patterns i cut in the filters (as shown) but truly... my flowers are about the perfectly imperfect nature of petals and learning how to construct them to make a unique flower every time. 💕
