Great info, thank you! I have several friends that lost loved ones during the 2020 Pandemic. Many were older. Part of the Memorial Service usually included an earlier, healthier photo on the print-out made available. I plan to create a Keepsake for the surviving family, implementing your process. They can use it as an ornament, keep it with sympathy cards, hang it on a wall, store it in a drawer - that is their choice. I wish someone had created such a keepsake for me when I lost my dear parents, I would proudly include them on my 'wall of sweet memories'. (My parents passed over 2 decades ago. I anticipate I will have their pictures proudly displayed as per your technique within the next year.) Thank you for sharing your process.

I learn so much from you! I'd never heard that inkjet ink needs to dry, nor had I ever heard of heat setting! Your grandmother is gorgeous! One trick I've learned from nail art stuff, is to cut tiny slits on the outer rim of nail decals to allow for curves. Maybe that'd be good for this too.

If you put some resin in the spoon to start with you could create a flatter surface, no wrinkles..... Ace

I so love this idea. I tried one out however I keep getting black dot pop up on image. Do you k ow why that would happen? Thank you

@@katiecisco4027 if a dark dot shows after applying resin it's because the paper was not sealed well enough with the glue and a tiny amount of resin has soaked into the paper to create a dark spot. (It only takes a pinhole) Add an extra layer of glue or a few extra layers on the paper making sure each layer is completely dry before adding another. If you rush it it won't seal properly. I hope this helps

A great resin for beginners is Amazing Clear Cast. (not to be confused with amazing casting resin) Its fairly easy to work with, can be found at Hobby Lobby as well as other craft stores and online and is fairly easy to work with as far as less bubbles etc. I recommend doing a couple small projects you dont care too much about just to try it. Resin can be finicky.

Hi what glue do you paint over the pictures to stop them from degrading in the resin? Your videos have helped me so much as a beginner 😍

It's Aleenes Tacky Glue. I prefer it because it is a thicker type glue but you can use other kind of glue just do some test pieces to see how many layers you need to use to turn out right

How did you cut the spoon to put the bend in the handle?

Just a fine tooth hacksaw. You could also use a dremel with a cutoff wheel. Silver is pretty soft so it cuts easily.

Can you fill it most of the way, then put the photo on and resin over it?

Oh sure, very versatile. I like to have it layered underneath but it could be done differently too

What about Modge Podge to seal it in?

You can use mod podge, I dont love it for this application because it has a high water content and that can cause problems for inkjet prints at times and cause wrinkling of the paper. But most glues will work you just need to do some experimenting to determine how many layers you need to make it work.
