Your paper looks great! When I worked a paper mill, they used to dry some of the paper on glass like a window pane. Then I would go home and use a Japanese vegetable steamer with a fine mesh on the bottom to form the paper pages. Then we put handiwipes between each page and leave them to dry under a stack of heavy books. That was in the '90's before they had microfiber towels.😂

I got on a paper making kick a couple of yrs ago. my husband made me a whole lot of screens so I could make a lot of paper faster. For the past couple of yrs, every flower I get...a gift bouquet or just flowers from the garden....I let them dry naturally and I have been keeping all of them in paper bags for the next time I make paper. I will crumble them up and let them be part of the paper. I love what you did and I think it is great that you did this tutorial. Nice!! :o)

You are making me want to make paper again, haven’t done it in years. I think when I did it I used a cookie sheet over a basin, put the deckle on top of that and poured the pulp over it. Then put another screen over it to push some of the water down into the basin. Dipping it the way you did might result in more even coverage, but I don’t remember my paper being clumpy. Using the picture frames is a brilliant idea. You could use different shaped frames or anything that would made an outline to make different shaped papers, too. I remember learning all this from a craft show on HGTV when it first started in the early 90s, and I used junk mail to make the paper. I like how you used the book block left over from the cover you used for the journal. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the paper!

I taught paper making and used couching made from quilt liners made of flannel which worked out advantageous for sucking up the water. The couch is folded to about 2 inches thickness and slightly bigger than the paper itself. Also try to use wrapping paper and colored paper the pink and blue papers give lovely results.

I love the papers, so now I have to go and try this. Yes hang those wet paper towel out or just grind them up to re-use. That way you are not feeling like you are wasting them. I was wondering how magazines would work, since they are kinda glossy, I am not sure if they would work, but they have a lot of color in them. I will have to try it and see.. Thats what is so fun, just trying new things.

Love how your paper turned out. I never thought of using an iron on it. I made paper like 30 years ago and used the same blender I used for food, I just washed it out really good with a brush and hot soapy water. How many people here never ate paper as a kid, or at least balled it up and put it in their mouth (remember spit balls?). I have used things like dried flowers, coffee grounds, tea leaves, but never tried paint as I used colored pages. I always dried it outside and only used one frame. I'm actually in the process of saving paper from my shredder and going through and shredding old papers/bills not needed anymore. Looking forward to doing this again. I have an old broken frame now just need some screen. ☺♥

Well sure, just because some kids eat Paper doesn’t necessarily mean it’s good for you. Lol I think I would be more concerned about any of the inks or chemicals that might get left behind as a residue. But do what you wanna do! Lol. I’m sure it’s probably not a biggie but I’m not going to tell people to do it and then have someone gets sick and blame me haha! Thank you for watching :)

I think it's better to use a large sponge, like those automobile detailing sponges to absorb the water and maybe old sheets cut down to a good size instead of paper napkins only because i think it's abig waste of paper towels and you would need a good amount of cloth to keep absorbing the water. Just my humble opinion 😁

Yes totally .. I was going to say as well..Just breaking or cutting down the paper into small pieces just helps for it to break down easier and quicker. And to blend easier into pulp. But honestly you could just put full pages in water but it just takes it longer to break down and more work getting it blended

Hi... It would work just the same.. tearing it cutting the paper down in small pieces just helps it break down faster and easier to blend . And when you blend it you can do it so it's all tiny and no chunks of paper .. or do it not as much so you have lots of chunks and texture in your paper ... Just whatever look you prefer .

@LauraMe... 3 жыл бұрын
I remembered my Mom make some elaborate paper molds and she used corn starch, which you can get at dollar tree. The sizing essentials keeps the moisture from clinging to the paper. I found this suggestion online... Cornstarch or arrowroot size: Mix 1 teaspoon of cornstarch or arrowroot with a small amount of cold water to evenly wet it, then add 1 cup boiling water. Spray starch may also be used to size paper. In each case brush the size evenly on paper.www.lloydgodman.net/tech/tech/Alternative/alt3A.html#:~:text=Cornstarch%20or%20arrowroot%20size%3A,the%20size%20evenly%20on%20paper.
